Some people say Tony wanted to bang his sister

Eh.

reply

He didn't want any other man to be in her life.. Not even his best friend. Lets keep it at overly protective!

That was real? I saw that movie, I thought it was bullsh*t

reply

But let's be fair. EVERYBODY wanted to bang Gina.

reply

I don't think he wanted to bang her. He just wanted the best for her and didn't want someone with Manny's background (gang member, player, drug user, etc) to be with her.

reply

Right. I believe the original movie also had this same theme, but there was a twist in this version.

reply

Not true; the whole point of the scene where Gina tells Tony "we were just married yesterday," AFTER Tony shoots Manolo, and the look on his face of complete regret; he was simply trying to protect Gina's honor. But Manolo honored her by making her his legal wife, and he was Tony's best friend. The whole "incest" theory is silly. Latin men, much like Italian men, are known for being fanatically protective of their sisters. Tony's attitude about Gina was not that strange.

Fabio Testi is GOD

reply

I think he was overprotective and didn't want him to marry someone from his organization. Basically have her merry someone who was more professional and less a crinimal. But you never know, he might have sick fantasies.

Yeah in the original 1932 one it was a little incestual, their mother warning her that he looks at her just like he does every other woman. THIS Tony, no, he's just a big brother who wants to protect his sister from the scum out there, including those involved with him.

reply

There was no incestual implications in the original movie. And Tony's the scum for gunning down his closest friend and ally without a single thought or word just for having an intimate relationship with his sister. When you think about it, it's not just cruel but stupid too, who else would be better and more trustworthy to be with his sister than his closest friend and ally? Tony was clearly off his gourd at that point.

Did you miss the part where his sister is shooting at him in her underwear telling him to fk her? Of course this movie had incestuous connotations.

reply

Did you miss the part where he said "The ORIGINAL Movie"??? The original Scarface came out in the 30s. This was a remake/adaptation.

No questions. No answers.. You just accept it and move on.

I don't think he wanted to hit it but was way too protective of her. He even went berserk when Manny expressed some interest in her. He didn't seem to realize Manny wasn't just out for a piece of tail. He really liked her. In fact he would have probably kept her clean & out of trouble.

Tony meanwhile makes a play for Frank's girl & then when he gets her realizes she's not all what he thought she was.

reply

In the original, his incestuous feelings are more clear.

In the documentary Inside Story: Scarface, Steve Bauer talked about Pacino having different opinions on it than Oliver Stone and Brian De Palma.

Pacino didn't want an incestuous undertone and felt that Tony was just protective. De Palma and Stone wanted to keep the incestuous undertone

reply

Think his feelings for his sister has anything to do with him being high on cocaine?

reply

No way. Tony was crazy, not sick.

I think he wanted her to rise above that criminal life. He didn't want her to be an Elvira.

reply

As Oliver Stone says Tony can no longer love, all he can love is his sister his own flesh and blood, his ability to imagine a form of love outside himself is gone by the materialism that surrounds him.

Guessing his cocaine addiction had destroyed his ability imagine his sister married and the possibility of having a brother in law.

reply

wonder why he was so protective of her? he barely knew her. there was a big age difference between them, & he was in & out of jail. they were in America & he was still in Cuba, they barely knew each other.

you're going for, the last ride ah haaaaaaaa

reply

Think him being high on coke destroyed his ability to love anyone but a blood relative.
