Does anyone think Elvira really loved Tony?

the part where she says:

"Can't you see what we're becoming, Tony? We're losers. We're not winners, we're losers."

It seems heartfelt, like she had real, deep feelings about their marriage and was disappointed that their lives together wasn't the fairytale she was hoping for. Also the fact that she was willing to have kids with him, but decided against it because of their lifesyle.

Was she in love with him? I'd like to analyze her feelings towards Tony.

I think she did love him for a brief time. She wanted to hate him, but he managed to charm her, and he melted her icy exterior. But Elvira seemed to have this strange loyalty to Frank, and it was obvious that his being murdered by Tony began to taint her feelings for him. But yes, it seems she did love Tony for a while; there had to be some humanity in her..she wasn't a machine.

It's possible she did love Tony but IMO she was more in love with the WHAT Tony was more than who he was. She probably got with Frank the same way she got with Tony and probably found one more "boss" before she lost her looks.

It was a bad editing job. I'm sure there was more to the romance left on the cutting room floor. Still, Elvira was really just a coke hoeerr.

Shall we play a game?

Maybe she wanted to love him. At first Elvira came across as a typical shallow, cold gold-digger incapable of love but her restaurant speech seemed heartfelt enough to imply that she wanted something more emotionally fulfilling. I think she wanted someone to love and someone who would love her back. Once she realized Tony wasn't that, she left.
