What's the closest you've ever gotten to a celebrity?!
... Either emotionally, or proximity-wise...
... C'mon; spill the beans!!!!!!
That which is not yet, but ought to be, is more real than that which merely is.

was at a celebrity golf tournament with my dad and Ernest Borgnine walked by... so did the guy who played "Barney Miller"... then i got to play 18 holes of golf with my favorite actor at the time, LOBO's Claude Akins. it was neat.
shareI was about... 50 feet away from that kid from The Mighty Ducks and Dawson's Creek in New York City once.
After that incident, my sister told me she once sat next to Samuel L. Jackson in a bar once.
"How did you find America?"
"Turned left at Greenland."

I was at a book-signing where Bruce Campbell personally made fun of me for being a computer geek... does that count?
shareSure does. That's a quirky anecdote.
I'm sorry, I don't speak monkey...
I would be honored to be ridiculed by Bruce Campbell!
shareI waited on Rob Schneider and Charles Barkley (separately) when I worked as a waitress. Met both Timothy Leary and G. Gordon Liddy at a debate. Mr. Leary referred to my friends and me in the debate as "Liddy groupies".

I met Denzel Washington in a bar, he was the nicest guy ever!

Yeah, he seems like he would be!
"It's not the years, honey, it's the mileage... "
You got a Leary reference? Kudos!

Rachel McAdams came into my job about 3 weeks ago and we spoke for a good 20 minutes. Ive met other celebrities but she was the first i really interacted with. She is so down to earth and sweet it was amazing. It just made me like her even more. She even introduced me to her friends when they came to pick her up. She shook my hand and we said our goodbyes. A great experience.
"Mo Chuisle:My Darling, My Blood" Frankie Dunn in Million Dollar Baby
That's a classy way of dealing with people who approach you... Other celebrities could learn from her!

Early 80s, a theater in Eugene OR....Me and some friends, after a few drinks, went to a movie.....At that time the Movie; "Stand By Me" was being filmed nearby....As we proceeded down the row to our seats, I happened to look in the row behind us...Seated there, looking very important and flanked by people on both sides, was Rob Reiner, who was then directing Stand By Me.....I pointed and announced; " Hey Look! It's the MEATHEAD!...He looked really pissed while those sitting with him did everything they could to avoid laughing.....Meathead, is of course, the endearing term Archie Bunker used to address Reiner's character in the All In the Family sitcom.......
shareI stood right next to Tip O'Neill when I went to Washington DC many years ago. Us girls had a private audience with him which he didn't have to do but he did. Very nice.
Those of you in Massachusetts, I'm volunteering for a local state senate candidate (and it's not Fargo).
In the Turf Club at Hollywood Park, I got on very friendly terms with Mel Brooks and his wonderful wife Anne Bancroft. Among other things we used to partner Superfecta bets. She was one of the nicest, humblest, and kindest people I heve ever known. We all really miss her. Also I used to hang out with Vince Edwards and Don Adams. Dick Van Patten, Milton Berle, and Slappy White were nodding aquaintances as were Burt Bachrach and numerous world fanous horse trainers. Once at the old Forum for a hockey game I stood in line behind Al Michaels at the urinal trough. As he left, the man next to me said "Do you know who that was?" I replied, "indeed I do and lucky me, I got to put my water right on top of his!!" Only I didn't use the word water but was slightly more vulgar.

The year was 1979, this comic shop called StarBase1 in Mountain View or Palo Alto. Got an autograph from the actor who portrayed 'Chekov' in the original Star Trek, series. I think this was for the movie. A lot of people, a lot of kids everywhere. It was cool.
You said proximity? In 1985, in San Francisco, at a sci-fi/fantasy book shop, that is no longer there, I have an autograph of Alan Dean Foster's 'For-Love-Of-Mother-Not'. THAT is one of my most protected purchases.

I met Anthony Anderson in Philly. He was in a rush to get to china town to buy some batteries before the stores closed. I also got to meet Sargent Slaughter (WWF) when an Ames opened up, that bastard showed up like an hour and a half late but i was young so me and my dad waited all that time for an autograph.
shareHave met and spoke with Alan Parsons, Bruce Campbell, Danielle Harris and the comedian Gallagher.

Wait a minute... who am I here?
Anyone here remember Ashleigh Banfield? She was once upon a time a bigshot news reporter for MSNBC. She became rather famous for her reporting from Ground Zero on 9/11 as the towers came down.
Anyway, for a period of about 24 hours, I was essentially her personal assistant. I got her coffee at starbucks, scheduled a chiropractic appointment for her and drove her to and from it, and also drove her and a few other people to a park where a rally was being held that we were covering for MSNBC. At the end of the night she took us out to dinner at a very swanky restaurant courtesy of her NBC corporate account. Through her, I met John Walsh of America's Most Wanted and Stone Phillips of Dateline NBC.
I've also met numerous pro athletes, too many to really mention. Probably the most famous of which was Dominik Hasek, six-time Vezina trophy winning goaltender in the National Hockey League, as well as a gold-medal-winning olympic athlete. I waited on him in a deli once. He ordered half a pound of turkey breast. Speaking of olympic athletes, remember the 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake? those canadian figure skaters that initially got robbed of the gold medal - I met them at a party and had my pic taken with them.
In the music world, I have met Geddy and Alex from Rush before. I've met most of Our Lady Peace and everyone in The Tragically Hip. I also met Vince Neil of Motley Crue fame.
- I Had an interview in Paris with Tom Hanks for a dutch website
- Director Darren Aronosky Introduced The Fountain at a Belgium Filmfestival
- David Cronenberg and Viggo Mortensen INtroduced 'A History of Violence at the same festival
-I've met Spike Lee in New York
-I've seen a Musical with Meryll Streep and Kevin Kline
-and I was an extra in the new Colin Farrell movie 'In Bruges'.
-I was peeing next to Brendan Gleeson
First of all svendehondt, you suck!!! lol i'm just jealous that you met Tom Hanks.
As for me, i have a picture of my sister and I with P.Diddy. I met Angelina Jolie for about 5 seconds as she was walking out of the David Letterman studio.
Uhhhh, who else, Rosario Dawson, Russell Simmons, Will Smith, Martin Lawrence....Mind you this was all at one place because it was the world premiere of Bad Boys 2 in New York (of course). lol
"THAT'S LIFE"--Sinatra
"Did you feel that earthquake?"--Dean Martin

i live in cali, usa. when i first moved here to santa barbara, i worked for metropolitan theatres corp. now, since s.b. is only a few miles north of l.a. we get lots o' celebs up here vacationing, shopping, going to movies...
i made espresso for dennis miller, escorted geena davis to her theatre seat, taken mary steenbergen's ticket, and sold steve martin popcorn (l.o.l.)
b.t.w., i am not a celebrity-worshipper, as people are fond of doing in the u.s.
and, i'd recommend woody allen's "celebrity" as another very good cinematic indictment of 'the cult of celebrity.'

Vince Neil? Cool! I'd like to meet all of the Crue...
It's made from bits of real panther, so you know it's good...
If you live in Wellington NZ, you get them all the time. Whole bloody casts. They turn up at your work and you just have to shrug and think, Yip - she's hot, or, Gee - he's decidedly short.
