What's the closest you've ever gotten to a celebrity?!
... Either emotionally, or proximity-wise...
... C'mon; spill the beans!!!!!!
That which is not yet, but ought to be, is more real than that which merely is.

I was sitting ten feet away from Joan Baez at a coffeehouse two years ago.
shareGot Clint Eastwood's autograph at a celebrity tennis tournament at Lake Tahoe
Got Muhammad Ali's autograph in 1981 on Hollywood Bouleavard. A limo was parked and a crowd gathered around the limo. Ali was signing autographs. I gave him a dollar bill and he signed it.
I worked at a movie theater as an usher and Andy Kaufman came in to see Urban Cowboy. I talked to him for a while, and he was impressed that I knew everything about his career.
Met Jon Voight in Century City in 1993. I was standing outside an office building taking a break and he walked by. He was very nice. Also saw Shaquille O'Neal around the same time. He wore a shirt with 32 on the back. He shook my hand, was totally cool.
One time in Century City I walked past Ron Howard and George Lucas, didn't say anything to them. It was around the time of Willow. Also shared an elevator with Brian Grazer.
I was in Marin County hiking with a friend in 1989, when a pick up truck passed us by. Riding in the back was Spielberg, Lucas and Harrison Ford. They were shooting Indy Jones and Last Crusade.
Is it weird that of all of these celebrities, Andy Kaufman is the one that has impressed me the most?
About Indiana Jones: In 1989, you sure? Principal photography concluded in 1988, and the only shot captured in 1989 was the sunset riding at the end, and that was done by stunt doubles.
"You keep him in here, and make sure HE doesn't leave!"
It was January 1989, Ford was dressed like Indy. They were probably doing some pick up shots.
shareI was at local restaurant for my birthday when my brother pointed out that a group of a half dozen diners in the restaurant included George Brett and his longtime friend Rush Limbaugh. I begged my date to let me go home and get my copy of Al Franken's book "Rush Limbaugh Is a Big Fat Idiot" to be signed by Mr. Limbaugh. She forbade me to go home and get the book, so I missed either the anecdote of a lifetime or a regrettable occurrence that might have landed me in the county jail.
share100s. What does celebrity even mean now, as the talented ones get called celebrity, the same as the ones who get famous for saying dumb things on a reality TV show or making a sx tape. I dislike the term as many people have been brainwashed by the celeb industry into wanting to be like the talentless ones just because they're well known.
I've been near famous actors when I worked in a restaurant near a theatre, academics, royalty, politicians. Bill Clinton walked past me when I worked in an Oxford college and he visited. I served head of the UN. I don't think it's anything special. They're just people like everybody else.
