They're remaking NIMH
Bastards...! :(
shareOy!XP
EPIC FAIL!
Don't worry, it will be a flop because kids are not as smart as we were, and won't be able to comprehend the movie since they are so ADHD these days.
shareI love the movie the way it is. It does not need to be remade.
It's funny how the colors of the real world only seem really real when you viddy them on the screen
It'll never top the original... No magic left today.. All commercial minded crap. Surely kids know better as well, if not then yes, they are ADHD kids already polluted with the current crap that comes on television.
shareActually the original kinda flopped too, since it had almost no promotion, went against E.T. at the theaters, and the perception that it was too 'dark' for the kids.
If they are going to remake it, I bet they will stick more closer to the book and remove that whole amulet and magic that was present in the Bluth version.
Agreed, the amulet and stuff was stupid kid's stuff and there was subsequently many of the really darker aspects of the book that didn't make it, so a sequel is ok by me. Provided of course that they can do the book true justice, maybe focus more on the truly creepy (in the book) NIMH corporation and their animal experiments!
shareThey are talking about the new one being a live action/cgi mix which would retain the dark mood of the series.
My biggest problem with the remake/new movie? No Dom Deluise :(
I think full animation would still be a better way to tell such a dark story. The cgi/live action mix just always looks so... cheezy. I just can't imagine it being suited for anything but comedies until we get good enough at it that its seamless.
shareNobody has an imagination anymore, they're ideas have run dry..... :(
shareI never like "remakes", or rewrites as I like to call them. I'll go see it anyway since my curiosity always gets the best of me.
shareThis one shocked me more than the CGI/live-action Tom & Jerry film that's coming out. Only because CGI/live-action at this technological state only really seems suited for comedy. But don't get me wrong, I will fear the day I have to see those CGI models for Tom & Jerry. :O
Though maybe this time she'll actually be allowed to be called Mrs. Frisby.

Nathaniel: Sire, do you...like yourself?
Edward: What's not to like?
Oh hell no! Why can't Hollywood just leave movies like this alone? Ok, I can see the point of remaking a good classic horror film as a experiment of what it would be like present day, but a CGI/live action NIMH movie? WTF?
I'm pretty sure Don Bluth would be horrified of it, and not only that in mind, but I'm not sure if he's retired or not, but I'm sure he would not want to see a beautiful picture such as this into a piece of CGI crap! I certainly wouldn't, and what are they gonna do next, remake All Dogs Go to Heaven? They better cancel the production.

I'm pretty sure Don Bluth would be horrified of it,
Well, I think that might be a little tricky to get...
shareUh guys, this isn't a remake of Secret of NIMH, it's a new adaptation of the book; that's a whole different thing than what most of you seem to be assuming here. I mean, the book and movie are almost two separate works with only the most superficial plot elements connecting them.
And consider this, when this film comes out (2013!!??), it will bring a lot of renewed interest to SoN as well as the book. These are both good things, so stop whining!
Better not be in CG! >:(
