Is It Possible To Get A Cut With Just Brando Restored?

The Donner cut is better because we get Brando back in who was inexplicably (within the film universe) replaced with Mrs Superman's mom in the theatrical cut.

However, we are still left with the issue of Superman spinning back time again which is hugely unsatisfactory.

Therefore, can't we just get a re-edit of the theatrical cut with Brando restored and the magic kiss left in place?

I think this would be the most satisfying outcome...

Oh, and we don't need to see Zod et al being taken away. I'm happy enough to see them falling to their demise.

All things considered, I think you're better off just sticking with the theatrical cut. I don't think it's anywhere near as bad as what Richard Donner likes to think. He has an axe to grind so his is hardly an unbiased opinion. Frankly, the Donner cut is a mess and actually worse than the Lester one.

I think it works better with the mother in II anyway, hes talking to her about love etc which is more apt for the mother , and he disobeyed his father at the end of the last movie. He presumably gets his powers back from his father (in the theatrical version) but again that kind of works better when we don't see it/more mysterious ..(we actually don't see brando again after Jeff East's scenes in the theatrical versions of I & II which again works best maybe that reeve never interacts with him except that brief memory 'it is forbidden' at the end of STM)

also Reeve's performance isn't too good in any of the brando scenes (including the fortress scene in the SE cut of STM) as they were filmed first so hes abit 'off' in his performance (and super skinny) . his refilmed scenes in Lester's II are far superior and have a different tone/more polished performance (and more bulked up physique).. Especially going to get his powers back in the green hue depowered fortress

Well yeah, I'd agree the theatrical cut is better for the most part.

Just wish someone would edit it with Brando instead of the mom, who's sudden appearance doesn't really make much sense "in universe".

One of the other problems with the Donner cut is that I'm pretty sure he said that the spinning back time was always meant to happen here and not the magic kiss.

So it's not just the fact that Superman is spinning back time again, it's the fact that he was never meant to in the first one. So the Donner Cut is in fact a follow up to a film which doesn't even exist.
