Swan - cool or faggy name ?

The name's too pretty. Also, I'm thinking about how well he would have fit in wearing that leather vest to a gay bar and I'm leaning towards faggy.

Your opinions ... ?

If you noticed, all the Warriors were named after their appearance or personality. Cochise wore a lot of Native American jewelry, Cowboy wore a cowboy hat, Rembrandt was a tagger, etc. Swan, to me, looked and acted like a swan. He was tall, lilt, blond and beautiful and if you know anything about swans, they're mean, antisocial, and temperamental.

The difference between a lady and a flower girl is not how she behaves, but how she is treated.

Tell me about it. Did you ever see them beg for treats? They hiss and chase you. If you are on a boat...they attack the boat. Swans are the psychopaths of the animal world.

And ajax was great for bringing the shine back to stainless steel.

I've actually known more than one thug going by that name. None of them were "faggy".

Swans are graceful, which says nothing about their temperament. They are actually not friendly birds at all. From a wildlife site :

Swans are the epitome of grace, love and romance which is a contradiction of their actual temperament. These birds tend to be aggressive, defensive and often are the bullies of the waterfowl world.

So, no. If you want to talk about a "faggy", totally lame and overdone gangster name based on a bird, consider "Raven". That's a guy who will never get laid and needs to put 9-1-1 on speed dial just so he can see the numbers displayed for peace of mind.

I was under the impression that some of the Warriors used nicknames (Rembrandt, Cochise), and some used their character's real name (Cleon, Swan).

I knew a guy named Swann. It was his last name, but that was what he went by. I thought it sounded pretty cool.

Michael Beck as Swan resembled the late Andy Gibb. I don't think Gibb was considered tough.

I just watched this film after hearing about it's legendary status for many years and I couldn't believe how camp the whole thing was. The gangs seem more like dancers who've wandered off the set of Westside Story and the Warriors wouldn't have looked out of place in The Blue Oyster Bar in Police Academy. :)

Swan a faggy name? I would say not. If his name was Lynn Swann.. wah wah, lol.

However, when Swan says to Mercy, "...I know they're on my ass. But now they know that I know..." that was sounded really gay.

Every person that served can be called a veteran, but not every veteran can be called a Marine.
