Who's your Stalker for the Holywood remake?
I couldn't get Paul Bettany out of my head the whole time I was watching the movie.

I'd love to see Daniel Day-Lewis play the Stalker, would be awesome.
Robert Downey Jr. as Writer
Sean Penn as Professor
would be my dream cast if Hollywood ever gets their hands on the film. I would only be happy with somebody like Terrence Malick directing the remake though -- none of the commercial directors would do well with the material.
Jason Statham as the Stalker.
Mark Strong as the Writer.
Christopher Plummer as the Professor.
Can a living director possibly be capable of remaking this film today. I don't think there is one.
looks like were shy one horse.
No you brought two too many.
I kind of agree. Even if you had the right director, the right cast and crew, and some of the best producers, the set design budget alone would be daunting, let alone the cost of getting all the right people involved. If they don't want to disappoint anybody who loves this film it would probably be one of the most expensive films in history. If they went CGI for any part of it, people will immediately notice and be turned off by it. I don't think people will settle for anything less than the real thing if someone attempted a remake of this. And I don't think filming on location is an option so it really looks like a remake would almost certainly fail.
shareYeah, come to think of it, how come no one's started a thread about who should write and direct the remake rather than who will be in it.
The entire genius of the film lies in its composition and the dialogue, not the acting (although it's top notch). No one talks about Kaydanovsky's Stalker, do they? So why does it matter who's in it.
The characters are allegorical and entirely translatable, without appearance even figuring into it.
Oh, come on! Hollywood remakes are just slick, dummed down versions of the originals; who cares who plays in those? I saw what Hollywood did to "Solaris" - made me cringe. Like turning a work of art into a cheesy cartoon drawing. Kitsch.

He was my first thought when I saw the title.
I'd prefer a less well recognised actor though...

Except for the part that, no matter how much I enjoy Statham movies, he can't act his way out of a paper bag.
shareRobin Williams.
He plays everyone in the Hollywood remake. Even the wife, and the little girl. And the dog as well, perhaps.
