sequel?

Literally every iconic movie from the 70s 80s 90s is getting the long belated 'legacy' sequel now (Star Wars, Jurassic, Blade Runner, Top Gun etc etc) ..so how long can it be before AN gets one? (a prequel charting Kurtz or Willards early years in Special Forces wouldn't be very interesting and prequels aren't really in trend now, and a remake wouldn't really work as the original is so iconic be like remaking Star Wars or Godfather. Plus both a prequel and remake would require recasting Willard, Kurtz etc unlike a sequel )

Martin Sheen, Robert Duvall, and Harrison Ford would undoubtedly return in supporting roles (Ford could have a bigger role this time). but the main role(s) would be the likes of Dicaprio, Pitt, Crowe, Damon, McConaughey, Clooney, Craig, Elba with various others in supporting and cameos (there would be no shortage of stars wanting in on a sequel to AN even in smaller roles).. with a couple of exCoppola A listers like De Niro or Pacino as high ranking Army officers, plus maybe Harvey Keital could be in it as a General (a nod to his originally being cast as Willard). And Brando could appear in flashbacks as Kurtz (via previously unseen AN footage)

Director would have to be someone highly respected who is a huge fan of the original like a Denis Villeneuve was with Blade Runner (Coppola is retired and doubt hed want to do it after the hell of the original)

As for the plot it'd be set present day or maybe just a few years ago in some war. maybe retired Willard (or another crazy Cornel played by a modern Brando-esque actor like Crowe) would have gone missing/AWOL like Kurtz and the moody lead actor (Pitt) has to go on a mission to locate him in some foreboding wartorn region that would turn into another deep soul searching ethereal journey into the horrors of war etc

Title would be Apocalypse 'Something'... like Apocalypse Still, Apocalypse Resurgence, Apocalypse Awakens, Apocalypse Rise, Apocalypse Dawn, Apocalypse War, Apocalypse 2020 etc

a few years ago id agree but lately theres been so many belated sequels/follow ups to varying degrees of success (SW/Jurassic = huge. BladeRunner2/ID4:R = not so) it seems all the bets are off .(id expect the likes of a Fight Club 2, Godfather IV and Back to The Future IV at some point too) the reason is that now IP is king these classic/cult movies have such big fan bases that will watch new versions no mater what and are guanteed to make money (plus any new version rejuvenates interest in the originals/creates interest from younger fans curious about the old films so it leads to mass increase sales of DVD/Blu/streaming etc )

Great idea man. Call it Apocalypse 2 Electric Boogaloo.

They could put some female sailors on the patrol boat since the original was such a male dominated cast. They could CGI up the chopper attack scene and use rap music instead of Ride of the Valkyries.
