Actually, as much as some may dismiss the idea, I believe there is something to this theory. I noticed it a few years ago when I developed a love of vintage '70s style, and started buying a lot of vintage clothes. People tell me quite frequently that the decade suits me, and that I have the right body shape for it - that's quite a broad, square pelvis.
My dad, who was in his 20s back then, tells me that he definitely thinks women had a different body shape back then, and the main thing he attributes this to is the Pill.
By the 1970s, the vast majority of young women were on the Pill, which of course caused hormonal changes to their bodies, and thus affected their body shapes.
The different kinds of contraceptive pill, and the scientific advancements since then have seen rehauls of the kinds of chemicals and hormones they used, which could account for the vast majority of young women having, yet again, a different body type to our parents' generation.
So I think you're right about this, AJWho44.
