I have been wanting to watch one of them, not both, so I would like to know which one is better. No spoilers please!

shareWhy in the world wouldn't you want to watch both? I saw the original in 1982 and it's still my favorite movie of all time to this day, but the remake was one of the best remakes of all the classic horror remakes I've seen, if not the best.

Both, they really are totally different movies in almost every way. i really enjoyed both. they are two of my favorite movies of all time. i just kind wish they name the remake a different name so not to pretend it has anything to do with original.

shareI think it depends on what you want out of the experience. The 1978 version leans more to the side of horror and really hits that claustrophobic element of the zombie apocalypse. The film can also be funny at times. The 2004 remake is more of an action film that relies on elements of shock horror- similar to that of 'From Dusk til Dawn'. The humor is toned down, if nonexistent.
Personally, I like the original better. Not to say that the remake isn't good. It just doesn't capture the tone I think the living dead takeover should have.

I have the remake to watch still but saw this one a few months ago and really enjoyed it.
It was funny to and I gave DOTD a 7 out of 10.

I think both are great and different. The original feels like a "better" movie overall, but there are things "better" in the "remake". Both have their flaws and both are as enjoyable in different aspects.
