Bailey or Jennifer?

I don't know about most of you guys, but I never, never, ever found Jennifer (Loni Anderson) the least bit attractive. I don't care for her Barbie Doll type face or body. I was always a Bailey fan. That cute, intellectual look with her glasses, always appealed to me even when I was a kid.

Give me Bailey anytime!

I wouldn't say no to either one of them...but I'd probably take Bailey because she was beautiful 100% of the time, while Jennifer had some off days. I'd just probably be more able to respect Bailey in the morning.

Bailey without question. The hair, the voice, the personality and the tight jeans and outstanding bunz....

reply

I'll go with Bailey, but here are two of their Finest Moments:

Bailey...Just remember the morning she walks into the radio station tussled hair, wearing Johnny's Black Death T-Shirt and blue jeans, "I just put on the first thing that I could find" and flirting with Herb.

Jennifer...making the last farewell speech at Johnny's goodbye dinner, she stands up and takes off her jacket/sweater, to turn up the heat, "I'm really going to miss you Johnny." The look on Fever's face was priceless.

I always hate these kind of questions because its very superficial based on looks and both women were beautiful in their individual ways. THere cant be comparison between the two. Personality has a lot to do with it and both had very sexy personalities and were uniquely different. But one thing about superficial beauty is it doenst last. Its nice to admire the beauty and after a lot of time passes you can see how aging affects. Loni still is a beautiful woman but to go back and look at the old episodes you can see how beautiful she was then. So Im not saying that its not great to admire physical beauty at all but to compare I just dont like that very much. I look at Gary Sandy on the show and what a great lean build he had then and now he has put on the pounds. Youth does a lot of things to beauty or should i say aging does a lot to it.

reply

Gary Sandy still looks amazing, though, for a man in his 60s now.

If you happen to read this, Gary, I still you! (And I am a Dayton native too.)

I really think both Bailey and Jennifer were beautiful, and both added so much to the show but Bailey was my very fave, because she is a lot like me.

Sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up here.

You may not read this reply 9 years later but I saw Gary Sandy in a play with Ann Margret where I live, well it's been quite a few years now. I didn't get to meet him but he was leaving the theater and he waved at the people standing outside and was very friendly. I have always liked Gary. Well, except the first time I saw him was in a Soap opera and he played an evil character. I didn't like him there, well the character. I didn't know much about him then. It was WKRP when I got to like him.

I am not the original poster but I enjoyed reading your reply!

Oh I know. I saw that you liked him so I was sharing that with you. Glad you enjoyed it.

Bailey's got the wholesome girl-next-door look which is nice, but nothing beats Jennifer's curves wrapped in those tight dresses.

Nervous?
Yes.
First time?
No, I've been nervous lots of times.

Bailey.

reply

Bailey all the way. I had such a huge crush on her. I've always gone for cute intellectual types with glasses.

I also preferred Bailey. Jennifer did have a couple of episodes where she showed that she had a brain.

reply

Based on a quick review of the posts here, it looks like Bailey is preferred by a wide margin. I'm with the majority. Jan Smithers was really beautiful.

I'll bet someone else has already posted this, but prior to WKRP she had been on the cover of either Time or Newsweek as the face of young America. Sometime afterward, she was in some sort of accident that left her with a large scar on her chin. Plastic surgery was not up to the standards that it is today, and the scar caused her a lot of concern as an actress. In the old days of pre-HD television, when most people had small screen televisions, it was hard to notice. I can only see the scar in a few scenes.

In any case, Loni never did anything for me. Her features were too sharp, too over done. Jan had much more of a healthy, All-American girl next door thing going for her. Scar or not, she was (and probably still is) a beautiful lady.

Jan Smithers was on the cover of the March 21, 1966 Newsweek magazine. Please click on

That made her about 29 years old when "WKRP In Cincinnati" began. Wasn't her character supposed to be fresh out of college? It doesn't really matter. She still looked young and very attractive.

What was up with Bailey's romance with Johnny Fever? Howard Hesseman is about nine years older than Smithers. But his character was light years older. They were so discreet you really did not know much.

reply

I never thought their age difference was a big deal. At least, unlike Jennifer, Bailey wasn't dating senile old men.

reply

Johnny was 40 going on 100. He wasn't that old but had a lot of mileage.

reply

There's a memorable moment when Johnny is struck with crippling mike fright, and Bailey is sent into the booth to help him out. She reminds him of a tip he'd given her; to pretend he's talking to just one person, and urges him 'talk to me.' He slowly, haltingly starts addressing the city, then, laughing nervously, says 'I'd really like to take you home and kiss you all over in the dark...' Catching himself, he adds '...but first...'

...my point being, I totally agreed with him.

James Brolin was married to her.

Now he's married to Barbra Streisand.

Go figure.

While I will say Jennifer had her good points, generally stretching the fabric of some man made fibre dress, Bailey was the one who always caught my eye.

I liked that she was shy. I believe Jan was shy herself. Bailey in those floaty blouses looked fantastic as she wafted around.

From what I could see she wasn't lacking in the breast department, they were just very understated.

She had the most beautiful face and such a sweet nature.

I've never seen them since they were originally aired until a couple of weeks ago. I am just at the end of season 1 and looking forward to the rest. I have to watch them two at a time :)

I have no idea who Cindy, Ginger and Mary Anne are. No doubt I will as I keep watching

I just watched the episode where they accidentally give away $5000 as a quiz prize, and I just noticed for the first time how buxom Bailey is! Man, she tries hiding them under those baggy loose blouses but holy crap they look massive. I like Jennifer too, something filthy about her

As a kid watching the show, I probably thought Jennifer was better just b/c that was the stereotype and she was supposed to be the hot one. Honestly, now I don't find Loni Anderson very desirable even back in the late 70s/early 80s! She looked too plastic even then!

Bailey is defintiely the sexier to me. She is truly ATTRACTIVE!
