As a kid this show terrified me.

I remember watching this show when I was younger and everytime he would turn into the hulk I would get so scared.

Likewise. I was a very little kid when the show was on- according to wikipedia, the pilot movie first aired a week and a half after I was born. I remember watching it with my parents one night and when Banner hulked out, I started crying and my Mom had to take me out of the room. It seems probable that that was the first and only time I ever watched the show until I was a teenager and the Sci-Fi Channel started airing reruns. However, there was also that episode of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood that featured a visit to the set of The Incredible Hulk. As soon as Fred Rogers encountered Lou Ferrigno in full Hulk makeup, I once again started crying, this time because I was terrified the Hulk would smash Mister Rogers. Much later, in high school, I overheard one of my classmates talking about how that very same episode had been a source of trauma for her as well.

I agree with most of you that the only thing that terrified me watching as a kid was showing Banner's half-transformations into the Hulk like the very first one in the PILOT movie as well as the second one in 747 and both the first and third one in MARRIED were chilling and frightening. I remember when you knew it was coming by the build up music I would close my eyes. Now as a soon-to-be-46-year-old guy I have all 5 seasons on DVD and have viewed the above episodes that I knew contained the prolonged transformations and don't find them scary anymore.

I couldn't watch the show until I was 13. It was finally watching "Trial..." that I conquered my fear. Now, I can't get enough of The Hulk!

I can see why it would be scary but it's hard to compare not knowing how old you were or what you consider to be "a kid."

I dated someone when the first "Nightmare on Elm Street" and that person was terrified of the movie and convinced that it was really possible. I recently reconnected via Facebook and 30 years later, the fear is still there.

Our parents didn't censor our television watching at all. I saw "The Omen" and "The Exorcist" and very R-Rated stuff on Showtime as a kid. I have yet to see ANYTHING on television or in a movie that is scarier than REAL LIFE though.

When I was a kid "Fantasy Island" scared me at least once. I am not joking. Season one of that show had some edgy episodes.

Me too. When David's eyes started going weird, I used to run to another room.

Despite that, I loved the programme.

It's currently showing on Horror Channel here in the UK. Brings back happy memories of watching this great show when I was about 5 years old.

Yeah, the transformation scenes freaked me out as well.
