I loved this show when I was a kid and I never missed it. Of course it was not a documentary on cruise ships or how the officers conducted themselves. It’s likely that some ship’s personnel have romances with passengers though.
In real life though, the officers would not have the TIME for all the adventures the crew of the Pacific Princess had every week. For one thing, they were working, not vacationing like the passengers.
A long time ago I worked with a guy who had a friend who was a hairdresser on one of the ships of the Princess Cruise Lines. He told me that she said the officers never go ashore when they visit ports of call. They are working! His friend, the hairdresser, and other staff on the ship could go ashore when passengers did. But the officers did not.
You just have to realize it’s just a fictional world on the show.
