Tanner
he's not dead he's drunk.
shareI heard there was an effort to clean up Tanner's language for the sequel. I don't know who was behind it.

Where and when did you grow up? I grew up in the working class New York suburbs in the '70s. Most of the adults were racist and/or anti-Semitic.
I don't know much about the parents of Chris Barnes. But most people who push their children into show business are real ässholes.
shut up.
shareWhat's everybody moppin' about? Stein, you're up aren't ya? Grab a cruddy bat!
shareTanner was played by actor Chris Barnes. He is best know for "The bad News Bears". He acted in "Afterschool Specials" in the late '70s and early '80s. His last acting credit was in 1983. In 1998 he was working at flower shop in Utah according to an LA Times article.
shareI read in a magazine back in the '70s that the actor Chris Barnes, who played Tanner, got a lot of static about his language in "The Bad News Bears" so it was cleaned up for the sequel.
Which is crap. That's how kids talk. We all cursed and used foul language. It's all part of being a kid and playing sports
shareYeah, nice, clean stuff like, "Jews, spics, n!ggers and a wop who throws airballs".
And BTW, it was Chris who had a problem with the character of Tanner, and he apparently still does:

exactly
shareAt least Tanner had some fcking personality and character. He wasn't some PC clone with a rod up his ass like so many people and kids today. I swear, the only words kids know today is "I want, I want, I want," even at 10. We've become a pathetic and lame society when we stopped inspiring kids to be individuals and think for themselves. Their brains are now in their smart phones.
shareYEAH!!
What Luke' said!
"Isn't that rather like shutting the barn door after the horses have eaten your children?"
