If this movie was released in 2015...

- liberals would call for the firing of the president of the studio that financed the film along with every person involved with the movie. film would be boycotted

- there'd be nationwide "sit-in" protests at baseball stadiums

- there'd be a "national dialogue" on race relations and how the n-word affects the self-esteem of minorities

- articles would be written about how adults should treat fat children

did I miss anything?

I think its sad how some people can't watch a movie about stupid little leaguers without thinking it applies to their political beliefs. It must be such a burden stumbling through life with that burden. I'm about as liberal as it gets but i can enjoy films by Clint Eastwood and John wayne without hyperventilating about political meanings!

Amen. I haven't voted for a Republican in 20 years and I freaking love this movie. It represents everything I miss about the 70s and illustrates perfectly how our culture has become so antiseptic.

But the biggest problem our country faces these days is that it's so full of people who see The Bad News Bears simply as a tool to make the same tired partisan cheap shots.

There will be EDM, Superducks's sillyness, 108 cameos, SNL actors & Will Ferrell.

And yeah, not me watching.

It represents the modern problems with the 'conservatives'. Dialectical mumble. They forget the past. Maybe you just aren't really conservative, but feel as person, your weak.

It was the post-war "New Left" that created a show like this in the first place. It destroyed the Hayes Production Code and pretty much let shows like this run "free". No way this gets made in 1950. Simply no way.

It was also shows like this that got blamed for influencing Gen X to have sex at a very young age compared to previous generations. It was part of the reason the new Hayes Code came in during the 90's. Looks like it is working(for better or worse).

If the OP thinks it would have caused a meltdown in 2015, by 2022 it would cause exploding woke heads all over the country. The sound of bursting woke skulls would be deafening. Thankfully it was made in the mid 70s and still exists for rational people to enjoy.

You thought 2015 was bad? That was nothing compared to 2023.

A lot of current films wouldn’t fly in 1976 either. I love the grittiness and realism of 1970s films, but art cannot stagnate. Good films reflect the time, culture and era of their time. That is what makes them interesting. You can watch a film like this and get a sense of the era. People 50 years from now will expect the same experience. They won’t want films to lie to them and not reflect the mores of the time.
