Why not more popular or remembered?
This movie had a powerful message about middle-aged disillusionment, youthful longing, guilt, etc., plus superb acting by Jack Lemon (Best Actor) and Jack Gilford.
Why isn't it more popular?
Because it's a difficult movie to understand. The movie uses a lot of symbolism / subtlety.
