We had to read it in 3rd grade. And we also watched the movie. What I remember msot is the day after we read the book, out teacher (Mrs Farlander) decorated our class like a spider web. That (and the sadness of the story) left an impression on a bunch of 9 year olds.
shareThe first time I read the book ws in May 1973 when I got it as a birthday present. It's still a classic, even though I don't own the book anymore. However, my girlfriend owns a copy and it's our favorite.

My mom bought me the book when I was 13 back in the 80's , I love the book and the 1973 classic film.
shareMy third grade teacher read it to us for the first time, probably fall 1970. The second time I finished listening to the audiobook read by the author yesterday and immediately watched this movie.
