Was Hailey Steinfield a better Maddy Ross?

I personally believe that Hailey Steinfield was a much better Maddy Ross since she had a lot more of sassy personality whereas the one played by Kim Darby was more dry and wooden for me.

i liked both performances, they fit in well with their respective movies

I agree with that point. But I think you have to imagine Maddy as older for Kim Darby's performance to work, not 13 or 14 for Hallie, but 16 or 17.
