Hey, guys, anyone else like the movie?

I really did. It made me a little uncomfortable because of the gay overtones, but then I realized that it's just another part of life. Men will be men, right?! Haha!

Dude I love it it's one of the funniest musicals ever made and Lee Marvin makes the show as Ben Rumson.

I got no "gay overtones" and would have seen no need for any...but yeah, this movie is awesome. It's one of my dad's favorites--along with Jeremiah Johnson and others that my mom could never get into. But this one, everybody likes. Well, as a kid I would get a bit bored with it, but I always LOVED the soundtrack. We'd listen to it on car rides all the time. (Until the cassette tape partially melted in a center console, that is.) And as I got older, I appreciated the film itself much more. Really excellent music!

🐩 Power!

I've been a Clint Eastwood fan since I was a kid in the 1970s-80s. I'd always preferred his manly roles, Dirty Harry, Josey Wales, the Man With No Name, etc., but after repeated viewings of "Paint Your Wagon," I've come to a shocking conclusion.

This may be my favorite Clint Eastwood movie. I'm not sure why. Maybe because it doesn't take itself seriously at all. Sure, some (many) of the songs are catchy, Jane Seberg is beautiful and it's got a great supporting cast including many of Clint's future co-stars.

But I think the thing I love the most is how incredibly politically incorrect it is. I mean, the main plot of the movie is Clint and the fantastic Lee Marvin both become "husbands" to Elizabeth. There is even a gag about which husband's turn it is to spend the night with her, while the other goes off to play cards all night.

And then there's the whole section about kidnapping the "French Bawds." The prostitution angle is treated like a comedy element and no one thinks twice about it (except for Schermerhorn, of course).

I'm no prude, and I think all those elements are exactly why I've come to love this movie so much. There is no way this movie would be made today.

Me! I enjoyed watching Clint Ewastwood in this atipical role. And the whole movie is about human greed and love. Not bad at all!

This was as straight as possible, snowflake. Only your gay fantasy makes it gay.
