Am I the only one who hated this movie?
Watching it was pure torture.
shareThis film is an outdated embarrassment. Those East End "slum" kids look very stylish and fashionable!
Lulu and her singing---totally out of place.
The "noble teacher" trope---we've seen it far too many times.

I only found the last twenty or so minutes torturous to watch. It turned into some weird psychedelic music video and they were playing the ENTIRE songs.
shareThere is always one of these,"Am I the only one..." threads on every board.
You obviously was/aren't the only person who hated/hates this movie.
Just a matter of personal taste. You didn't like it. I do applaud you for at least giving it a try and making up your own mind about it.
Me? I have loved it with each viewing. Love the 60s! That was my era!
I didn’t like it. Thackeray is very elitist and speaks down the already downtrodden students who have poor prospects.
The scene where he talks about the basic lettuce tomato cucumber salad which the kids would have been raised on and says it should be eaten by no one was overly snobbish. He then starts making one with exotic fruits that the kids have probably never seen yet alone can afford.
And the song! Over and over!
