Am I the only one who hated this movie?
Watching it was pure torture.
shareMost likely.
This will be the high point of my day; it's all downhill from here.
not as much as hearing katey sagal sing "to sir with love"
or anything for that matter
Not quite torture, but certainly a patronising little movie, Sidney Poitier is fine as is Judy Geeson, but the kids are all far too old and unbelievable in their stereotypical single dimension of cockney 60s London. The only people swinging in 1960s Britain were the relatively wealthy London set; it wasn't till the 1970s that swinging fanned out into the general populace of this sceptre Isle. The film does offer up a couple of sound pieces of advice to the young, but the whole tone is of downtrodden naive youth and their grumpy old Brit parents resentful of the looming spectre of post-war America.
shareAdjectives that spring immediately to mind: self-righteous, meretricious, naïve, and phony. Sir's classroom doesn't resemble any that has ever existed in human history, and the students' collective reform and eventual grovelling over their teacher who has Taught Them So Much is so fantastical and far-fetched that the movie seems designed for people who flunked out in Grade 1 and never stepped foot in a real school after that.
shareNo, you're a turd that lives for people to respond. I haven't read any of the responses to your post, but you are someone who wants attention . This is way too common on IMDB.
shareSidney Poitier is one of my 3 favorite actors of all-time, but I thought To Sir With Love is a piece of garbage.
Generic plot that doesn't develop well, characters that are mostly unlikable and I couldn't get into caring about them either way. A brutal main song that they seemed to always be playing.
I didn't even like Poitier's performance which saddens me as its like watching one of your favorite players choke in a playoff game
its like watching one of your favorite players choke in a playoff game
I guess you missed the fact they didnt mention the movie as not being bases on Dr Suess, hence your agony.
shareSo who told you to keep watching. ASS
