If the under 25's had to vote for their favorite film of the 1960's/70's
Would this and the Godfather films make the top 10?
shareWould this and the Godfather films make the top 10?
shareYou probably couldn't get them to sit through them, they been conditioned to shaky cam and quick cuts.
shareQuick cuts like the shower scene in Psycho? Or do you mean the quick cuts in Gravity?
I would like to point out that, from the IMDb statistics, every age group rates the film higher than the age group over it.
18-: 9.3
18-29: 9.1
30-44: 9.0
45+: 8.6
The real question is, if the 45+ had to vote, would this be in the top ten? On IMDb, it wouldn't. You can thank the young generation for keeping this in the Top 250.

Yeah people don't realize that there is a generation of young people that have found out about these films over the internet and love them.

Yea. I'm 17, watched this for the first time when I was 16 and I loved it. 10/10 for me, just one of the four movies in total I rated 10/10 so it's in my top 4. Can't choose what position though but I'm getting more and more into the older parts of cinema.
shareYou give me hope in mankind, I hope you'll have lots of children while the rest of the 18years old kids are castrated.
shareI honestly wish the rest of my generation was like me :(
They kill me inside sometimes. I'm going to mention this to one of my friends and I bet he hasn't even heard of it.

Oh, shush up, like you're so cultured. Other than this movie, everything on your top 10 has been made in the past 20 years, and edgy teens the world over adore this movie. Heck, my 13 year old nephew watches John Wayne movies from the 40's and he loves them.
I don't think you realize that there are tons of teenagers, like you, who think they are "film buffs" because they've seen a couple classics. It's the reason IMDb is such an irritating place to be a member.
Dang man. The feeling's mutual. Sheesh.
shareIt's called "parenting," my friend . . I just watched TGTB&TU with my girls, 13 and 11, last night. Previously this year they've gotten through "Umberto D" (they love dogs), "Some Like it Hot," "The Searchers," and probably a dozen Hitchcock films. My 17-year-old son has loved the five Kurosawa films he's seen, "The Mancurian Candidate," and TGTB&TU, among others.
Point being, if "kids these days" can be accused of not appreciating classic cinema, their parents most likely can, too . . or they just haven't made much of an effort.

For what it's worth I'm 23 and it's in my top 10 all time movies. Top half, not bottom.
shareI reckon Jaws and Star Wars would be in the Top ten for the 70's vote.

Go farther back, kid and find Eisenstein's Battleship Potemkin (1927 or something like that), M - Ein Stadt such ein Mörder (with the great German actor Peter Lorre) of 1931.
And maybe - I see you have a couple of Leone's film on your favorites list - Once Upon A Time in America, Duck You, Sucker.
What a pretentious thing to say. then you list off 2 of the most well known and popular films of the 20s and 30s like your the only person who has ever heard of them
shareTons and tons of people under 25 like this movie, and The Godfather.
Along with many other classic films.

I'm 20 and I just think this is just a decent movie, with a good storyline. I'm enjoying this but for me Jaws is the best 70s movie. But this is 60s right? 12 Angry Men is my top movie too.
share20 Years old, some on my top 10: The Graduate, Some Like it Hot (even though it's technically a 50's movie -- 59'(, Godfather, yes. The Elephant man, American Beauty. Just a few.
