If the under 25's had to vote for their favorite film of the 1960's/70's

Would this and the Godfather films make the top 10?

reply

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly has been my favourite film since I first saw it. I am 25 years old and the first watched it when I was 14

reply

I don't like westerns, so I gave this one a 1 for being so high up.
Happy?

I'm not in the age group you mentioned in the title.

I like(d) western and I rated it 6 for being way too dragging (watched it yesterday). If the end wasn't this good I'd have rated it 5.
I thought those 3h would be better in 2h and then at the end I noticed that I watched an extended edition ~.~
Is there a 2h cut? ^^
I see the excellent parts of this movie but... too dragging to entertain me enough.
I liked The Hallelujah Trail much better :P Muahaha.
And 12 angry men. And Rear window - long ago that I watched it but I remember it was entertaining.

The 1970-89 were much better, they had Star Wars, Stand by me, Back to the Future, Aliens, Jaws and tv series like Quantum Leap.

But I'm also not the age group in question here.

Not one mention for The Great Escape? I'd have to put The Great Escape, The Good The bad The Ugly, and basically all of Kubricks films around that time too on my list for 60s/70s. When I think classic movies I immediately think of 60s/70s before any other decade.

I'm only 20 years old and I would put The Good, the Bad and the Ugly in my top 5 films of all time.. The Godfather isn't my kind of film.

GBU - Yes
TGF - No

I'm 14, so I think I can answer this one. I guess if I had to vote my favourite movie from those times, I'd say "Jaws" is definetly my favourite movie, not only from that period, but also from all time. I remember watching it as a small child. I know most kids would be horrified and scarred for life, but my dad and I sat down and watched it everyday. I grew up watching that movie, it's fantastic!
I recently saw The Godfather (I hadn't watched it since I was like 5 or 6 years old) again and I was a bit turned off because I felt like it wasn't THAT good. I mean, sure, it's 8.7 or 8.9 good, but not 9.2 good (I enjoyed "Goodfellas" quite more, actually), but it still is a fantastic movie! I laughed because I always thought I had watched Part 2, but then I realised all I recalled was from Part 1!
Other examples from that era would oubviously be "The Good, The Bad & The Ugly" (finished watching it literally 10 mins. ago, LOVED IT!!!), "The Exorcist", "Apocalypse Now" (which I liked, but it was a bit boring), "Full Metal Jacket" (my all time favourite war movie, thank you R. Lee Ermey!!!), "2001 - A Space Odyssey" and "Alien" is also a movie I quite liked...

I don't think I have a top ten, but these examples I gave you (except "Goodfellas") are definetly in my all-time favourites.

Oh, and I'm also offended that some of the replies here are against other people with the same age as I. No, sir, not all of us enjoy being ignorants and watching found-footage shaky-cam all the time! I know alot of kids who also share the same passion for older, more classic movies like myself...

I'm under 25 and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is my favorite movie of all time while Godfather movies would definitely be in my top 10 movies of 60s and the 70s

reply

I'm under 25 as well
My list for 1960s would be
1.Psycho
2.Dr.Strangelove
3.Once Upon a time in the West

I haven't seen enough movies from the 60s for a longer list to be relevant.

P.S. My all time #1 is 12 angry men, closely followed by The Godfather at #2

My 2 favorite movies are The Godfather Parts I and II. I liked this, gave it an 8. Could have been a 9 or 10 in my book had the plot been a little tighter. I liked For a Few Dollars More a little better, but still gave it an 8.

Wait until they get a load of me.
