No mention of On the Town, Carmen Jones, Love Me or Leave Me, The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, Anchors Aweigh, Funny Girl, Flower Drum Song, A Star Is Born, etc?
Do any of these musicals have as many hit songs as My Fair Lady? I think not, therefore, it is my number one choice. I recently revisited West Side Story and was absolutely bowled over by the music and the direction. It easily goes to number two. The rest as follows:
1. My Fair Lady 2. West Side Story 3. Oliver 4. South Pacific 5. Seven Brides For Seven Brothers 6. High Society 7. Carousel 8. Singing In The Rain 9. Annie Get Your Gun 10.Guys And Dolls
Wow, we're on the same page. Except for High Society, I agree with your picks. Most people rank Singing In The Rain as the best "made for movies" musical. However, I like Gigi better.
