What are the greatest musicasl?

What do you think are the greatest musicals? Here are my selections:

1. My Fair Lady
2. Oliver
3. Chicago
4. Gigi
5. Fiddler On The Roof

If this board gets any reaction, I'll justify my selections. For now, I'll just rate them one thru five.

I admit to being a huge fan of musicals in general. And I know I'm going to be mocked mercilessly for the following list. But anyway [gulp]...here are my 10 favorite musicals, roughly in order from 1 to 10, with several others tied for #11:

Enchanted (2007)
Mary Poppins (1964)
My Fair Lady (1964)
The Sound of Music (1965)
The Wizard of Oz (1939)
South Pacific (1958)
The Producers (2005)
Chicago (2002)
The Music Man (1962)
Gypsy (1962)

Singing In the Rain!

Fiddler On the Roof
The Sound of Music

Of course, greatness is a very personal opinion, but these are the ones I can watch over and over and never tire of; the ones that still make me dissolve into tears and then bring me to my feet cheering; the ones that make sing aloud with a big, cheese-eating grin on my face.

The Sound of Music
My Fair Lady
Gigi
Seven Brides for Seven Brothers
Oliver
Singin' in the Rain
Paint Your Wagon
Meet Me in St Louis
The Wizard of Oz
The King and I
Oklahoma!
South Pacific

The following get honorable mention because I can only watch them so often. I appreciate the genius and artistry, but either the story depresses me, or I find parts of it too long. Feel free to stone me now; I'll admit that the very famous ballet/dream sequence in An American in Paris bores me, no matter how amazing the dancing is. It's the same with the dream sequence in Singin' in the Rain, but I love the story so much that it more than makes the cut. Same for Oklahoma.

West Side Story
An American in Paris

Carousel.

I don't know if I'd put Chicago in there. I might replace it with The Sound of Music or something else.

Alright, I'll give it a go

1. The Sound of Music
2. The Wizard of Oz
3. Oliver!
4. Grease
5. Yankee Doodle Dandy
6. My Fair Lady
7. The King and I

I'd like to give honorable mention to one no one considers a musical, but I like it so much, I'm going to put it in this category...

Almost Famous

That's my opinion and I'm sticking with it.

I'm surprised to see Camelot (on TCM tonight, 11/23/12) omitted from this list, given the sheer number of memorable songs from heavyweight songwriters at the peak of their careers. I agree with another poster that Sound of Music is my favorite, unless you want to count Beatlemania.
