Is Trial Of A Time Lord Good?

The final Colin Baker story, seems to be split into 4 stories but is considered 1 big story and is 14 episodes long.

Good or Bad?

If you were collecting the DVDs and had opportunity to buy it cheaper would you?

Personally I look at it as a great concept marred by budget, legal issues, pressured schedules and internal conflicts.
The four stories are almost like clip-shows, with the Doctor on trial watching evidence being played of things that he has done in the past (first story), what he has done at present (second story) and what he is going to do in the future (third story) with a new companion we haven't met yet. The fourth story is the finale of it all, drawing everything together for a big reveal, and at the end we even get a clever time-travel trick with the new companion joining the Doctor, recognising him even though the Doctor doesn't know her yet.
Overall I'd say it's better to just look up a wikipedia summary of the episodes than to watch them. The effects vary from amazing to terrible, the writing is full of plotholes and inconsistencies, as well as flat-out bad moments like the feeble attempts at comedy, as well as the companion in the third story being in my opinion one of the single worst ever written into the show (yes, I AM counting Adric), and as I said earlier, it's a great idea marred by basically everything it relied on like writing, acting and effects.

They should put that on the front of the DVD.
