Anyone feel this is Hitchcock's best?
Most people would say Vertigo, Psycho, or Rear Window, but I say this film! Anyone agree?

shareDamned if I can separate Psycho, North-By-Northwest and Strangers On A Train .... sometimes it's one, sometimes it's the other that is my favourite,. They are all, in their own ways, masterpieces.
But you ARE Blanche ... and I AM.
In order: Vertigo, Rear Window and Shadow of a Doubt...but this is close.
shareI like watching this one more often than all the others and yet I consider Rebecca my favorite. I feel like I'll wear that one out if I watch it too often. I don't have that problem with North by Northwest ;)
Mag, Darling, you're being a bore.
I'd say it's third after Psycho and Vertigo.
shareNot his best work... Fun, well paced, with excellent cinematography and a great soundtrack, but too action-oriented, too big for the sake of being big, not suspenseful enough. Basically it's a proto-Bond film, and imo it lacks Hitchcock's greatest strength: intense psychological tension and suspense.
My favorites from Hitchcock are Rope, Rear Window, Vertigo, Dial M for Murder, Psycho and Spellbound (haven't seen Notorious yet).
Perhaps his best photographed, yet it's not his top for me.
Rear Window, Psycho, & maybe even Rope are ahead.

Most critics and directors would agree. I prefer 'Rear Window'
