LOL, yes... sorry.
No need to apologize, A Nightmare on Elm Street may not be The Twilight Zone, but the first and third films in the series are better than the worst episodes of TTZ.

The irony is that I've never seen even one of any of the Nightmare on Elm St. series.. LOL.

Same. I'm not a gore type of guy. I prefer real thrillers as opposed to blood and guts. Ironically (and fortuitously) I met my wife at the original Dawn of the Dead showing in 1979. That was the first and last gore movie I can recall seeing, but I'm glad I did. I went with some buddies and my wife went with her girlfriends. My wife hates these movies as well!
I just read a interesting article about R. Serling's life a few days ago.
He received a purple heart in the Korean war. Serling was standing next to a close buddy during the war watching US planes drop relief crates near their position. Serling's buddy was whooping and dancing around with joy, the next minute he was instantly killed by a falling supply crate that had no chute.
That experience deeply affected the writer, knowing that the margin between life and death can be very slim.
he was certainly anti-war
