Marathon
Is anyone here getting ready for the New Year's marathon?
shareHello, all!
I will be around, off and on.
Here we go!
shareNot sure I remember this one, what a treat to see it "new"!
shareThis episode does a good job of showing the difference between harmless nostalgia and being a miserable misanthrope trapped in the past.
shareNow Buddy Ebsen!
sharethe difference between harmless nostalgia and being a miserable misanthrope trapped in the past
I've not had cable for several years now, but I'm glad to hear Syfy is still having those marathons. Back when I was a kid, it was their annual marathon where I saw the series for the first time. I was hooked instantly, barely got any sleep, and had the VCR recording nonstop (I can still remember how snowy it was the night when I first started watching).
I've got the boxset ripped onto my PC nowadays, ready to stream to every room whenever I want, but I still got that stack of tapes that I recorded from the Syfy channel haha. I doubt I'll ever get rid of them.
Hopefully, a whole new generation learns about the show this way too.
Yes, nothing like the first times you see these. That's why I've resisted buying the dvd's. I just like to watch it in tv, plus every year there's one episode I haven't seen yet. Too bad they're edited though.
shareIt started for me in New York ..kinda not the same without snacks since I'm a diet...but it's still fun
shareHi there. Are you in the City?
shareHello..I'm in upstate. Rochester.
shareI'm in Manhattan.
Wonder why Cliff Robertson is wearing a top hat?
Oo the big city..and I wonder the same.
shareI like Cliff Robertson-- just not so much in this one.
BTW- Isn't the dessert in the "Rip Van Winkle Caper" the same exact site as in "A Hundred Yards over the Rim"?
Wonder why Cliff Robertson is wearing a top hat
oh wow thanks for that bit of info Tristan...I was thinking maybe a Chauffeur would wear that hat back then.
shareLove it! I had wondered the same thing.
shareAnyone here remember when they had a voting system for the next episode to play on SYFY?
Do you like the channel picking the episodes or did you like the fan vote system better?
Not sure. I like the idea of voting, but it always ended up with the most obvious winners, like To Serve Man.
I like that episode, but you know what I mean.
The fact that this year SyFy started towards the end of season two and is running through for a while in order means we get a different taste than we usually get. Maybe that's okay?
Yeah it was obvious. i felt the voting system was kind of like a gimmick. I like them deciding the episodes. I think its quite okay they started with the end of season 2.
shareI like The Silence. Besides seeing Franchot Tone and Cyril Delevanti, I like the fact that it's one of the few (maybe the only?) TZ episode with no supernatural elements -- just human beings messing up their own lives.
shareThe info on my Dish Network Guide on SyFy is episode 171- shadow play(1986)...it is safe to say dish got this wrong yes?
shareThe Obsolete Man -
Poor Burgess Meredith
But he's very noble.
Hate to say it, but I don't think I'll make it through the epi. Going to have to say goodnight until tomorrow.
Goodnight Shannon. When you wake up your fate shall be determined by the State.
sharewell timed. Maybe i'll go hide in a bank vault...
shareHide? We will just determine your fate right now...You are hereby sentenced death. Method? you May Choose the method of execution...From this approved list: Gas, or being beat with a metal baseball bat until your last breath is taken.
shareI'm back after 6+ hours of sleep. Not much I missed, it seems?
shareI'm back too...I made it to about 6am then went to bed. Woke up at 2pm
shareWelcome back. The Little People is a great one to start up with.
shareThanks. I liked the person or persons unknown episode better. I was walking on my treadmill during that one.
shareFour O'Clock is a fitting follow-up to The Little People. I sense a potential theme -- Last Night of a Jockey should come next (but it doesn't).
:-)
2 feet tall...he wants to turn evil people into dwarfs. lol I feel like turning them into the size of ants would be more dramatic.
shareI agree. But, it occurred to me that a judgemental guy like that would think that the life of a person that short would not be worth living. And, as he said, he seems to think it would render them unable to use technology and other conveniences.
That kind of bigotry (and not thinking things through!) fits the character.
Ah Yes I never looked at it that way. I was thinking to myself "why would a person 2 feet tall not be able to use a telephone or typewriter?" Now it makes sense with him being a bigot and thinking like that.
