The Seventh Seal. i found 8 1/2, while still being quite a masterpiece, to be somewhat boring at times.

If you do good, you'll see me one more time. If you do bad, you'll see me.. two more times.

8½ is a stupid idiot worthless film. There is constant talking and use of eloquate words and too much show off etc. They present a story of director where people constantly beg him for different things and he refuses, scolds, neglects them as if he was some king. What a stupid kunt. Nobody gives a crap about a fxxking old director. Whats with such an attitude. He is just a director. There are zillions of directors in this world making films but he thinks he is some gem person burdened to make a film. big deal. I hate that man and I hate 8½. There is no intellect. A man just shows off attitude. Other people talk to him about politics, philosophy etc, girls die to sleep with him. But he just laugh and neglect them as if the world is made for him. A fxxking moron. Rot in Hell you son of a beach.

Haha, u mad. If you're shallow as to dislike a multi-layered main character a Jung-influenced dream/character study is based on, I'll also take a wild guess and say you hated Raging Bull, Sunset Boulevard, Citizen Kane, etc. You seemed to have interpreted 8½ purely on your own superficial view of Guido and applied it, for whatever reason, to the whole movie. If you're not a troll then you're simply a disgrace to the art of cinema.

I have seen 8 1/2 twice and The Seventh Seal once. I will say, for emotional impact, The Seventh Seal, but I feel biased writing this on the Seventh Seal message board...

I enjoyed Seventh Seal a lot more. I found 8 1/2 on occasions hard work to enjoy because it was just too introspective and disjointed. Seventh Seal seemed be the opposite. The Seventh Seal was more linear and coherent in its story telling but far more wider scoped. The themes and essentially the subject matter were more grandiose and more accessible than the seeming pretentiousness settings and endless or perhaps more aptly described 'futile' soul searching presented in 8 1/2. Having said that I do admire the artistic flair and originality of 8 1/2. I imagine people working in the arts may find 8 1/2 more appealing, because it's set in that world and is non linear and very existential (well more so than Seventh seal).
