She was supposed to be 50 years old ???

My goodness, she looked almost 80. Maybe it's just that 50 today is a whole lot different looking.

reply

Well I guess I can understand thinking she looks older than 50, but 80? That is simply ridiculous.

Obvously she would no longer have the baby fat around the cheek bones but I thought she looked great for her age. And she was quite spry when she lept onto the sofa that Holden was stretched out on just before her Charlie Chaplin skit.

reply

Oh please! How misogynist of you.

reply

Some of the pictures on the table behind her as she is trying to get Holden to take the job. I God's, she was gorgeous.

reply

I don't get the responses here. Swanson looked like an old hag, an ugly one at that. Actually makes me cringe that Norman didn't run away in horror.

Who is "Norman?"

SHE was "Norma," HE was "Joe."

And, I agree with those who say that Swanson looked terrific at her age, and was, in no way, repulsive.

reply

Sorry, my mistake. I was in dubio about whether to go with the names of the actors or characters and confused myself.

Nope, she looked horrible. Her make up and the weird faces she made didn't help.
