She was supposed to be 50 years old ???

My goodness, she looked almost 80. Maybe it's just that 50 today is a whole lot different looking.

I don't know how many 80 year old women you've been around, but she looked around 50 to me in all honesty...

reply

I'm 51 and honestly thought she was in her mid 60s.

reply

Geez, how many actual 80 year olds have you seen? She didn't look remotely close to 80.

Gloria looked older than William Holden, but not by much. William Holden(Joe), though, looked much older than Betty I'm afraid. 👴👩

In those days people drank, smoked and tanned with abandon which is hard on the looks.

nah, she looked her age. well preserved is what she might be called

reply

I'm not sure you've seen any 80 year old women. She looked exactly the age she was portraying if not a bit younger.

reply

In some scenes she looked much younger actually, but in others she looks a bit older. It depends on the lighting. But I think the costumes, hair and makeup can see as aging if you are not used to them (and they are a bit aging in general). But look at her skin, eyes and the way she moves, she does not look 80 in any way.
