Rep. Ocasio-Cortez was a guest on a special live edition of the The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Thursday night from Chicago and the Democratic National Convention, appearing shortly after Vice President Kamala Harris officially accepted the nomination for President of the United States. Colbert talked about the historic moment, quoting part of Harris’ acceptance speech about “a vision of America where we hold fast to the fearless belief that built our nation and inspired the world, that here anything is possible.” When he asked what the nomination meant to her, AOC looked back to her childhood and Star Trek:

“When I was at nine years old, I watched a lot of Star Trek with my dad. And we used to watch this series, it was Star Trek: Voyager. And the reason I bring this up is because this was the first ship with a female captain… Captain Janeway, by the great Kate Mulgrew. And I remember this was something that was very important growing up. And my dad felt it very important for me to watch this because he wanted me to see an example of a woman in leadership. And when I was a kid, the only example of that was in science fiction. And today represents a day where it has become our reality.”

The moment did not go unnoticed by Kate Mulgrew. She responded to a clip of AOC on Colbert, thanking her and adding how she takes “great pride” in her legacy as Janeway, “especially inspiring the next generation.” She also added her wholehearted endorsement for Kamala Harris.

Janeway mostly had Voyager just fuckin' around while lost in space.

Oh Yeah! She's Hot in this Video! Those Boobs are approved! And that little Ass of of hers! DAM!

She's giving it to New York up the Rear End! LOL

She can get in bed with me anytime!

Outside of New York City and Albany, New York state is actually a nice place. I wonder if it has anything to do with how the rest of the state votes outside of those two-hell hole cities...

People like Kate Mulgrew confuse me. I like her as an actress. I always watched Voyager.

I know Ms. Mulgrew is a Democrat. But many years ago when she played Mary on Ryan’s Hope, the actress became pregnant. She was young and unmarried, but she had the baby and gave it up for adoption.

I have read her anti-abortion sentiments. She feels strongly about the subject. So I don’t know how she could have been so enthusiastic for a Harris Presidency while. Kamala is in favor of NO restrictions on abortion.

Hollyweird is controlled by the left. They are told what to do, say and think and if they don't go along with the narrative that they have been told to adopt, their careers and legacies are destroyed.

It's that simple.

reply

"It's that simple."

It's not even true let alone that simple.

Some people are able to look at a bigger picture.

Wow is she always full of shit? Star Trek : Voyager aired between 1995 - 2001. There were PLENTY of women leaders at that time. I swear she just says things becuase they sound good in the moment.

reply

Her Democrat followers are too dumb to know any better.

reply

So, now we know Mulgrew is an idiot.

reply

Hardly an idiot. I loved watching her on Star Trek Voyager. She had very insightful comments about her character and the direction of the show. The writers would have done well to listen to her input.

She also had some very intelligent comments to make about the series in the DVD extras. Not a dumb woman by any means. But when it comes to politics…dum dum dum..

I'm wondering what planet AOC's father thought he was living on, instilling in AOC that there were no women in power in 90's. There were plenty of women in power in the 90's when AOC was growing up! There were many female politicians, including Nancy Pelosi, Janet Reno, Madeline Albright, Dianne Feinstein, Olympia Snowe, Barbara Boxer, just to name a few. I had a number of female high ranking supervisors and a friend of mine was an executive banker at Chase in a very high position. Another friend was an attorney who owned her own practice. Never met a woman who felt held back because she was a woman, and that includes me.

It's true things have changed for women even more since then, but come on, the 90's was not the 1800's! If this crap is what her father fed her, it's no wonder AOC has a skewed view of things.

I'm more concerned about the times he drilled holes in her head to let out the demons. Back in those days, they didn't have none of that infernal modern med-e-sin

reply

Yes, very true 😉
