I kind of hate the guy, to be honest. I don't find him funny and cringe when I see his acting. I recently watched It's a Wonderful Knife, the Christmas horror movie, and I was displeased when he popped up on screen. He just played a normal guy, and for once, I actually thought he was pretty good. Then, later in the movie, he showed some great range that I didn't expect. If his Mark were to be one of the killers, I think he could certainly pull it off.
I had hopes that Mark Kincaid would be one of the killers. My theory was that he was actually an accomplice in Scream 3. He was obsessed with Sidney and her history and realized he had a chance to be with her instead of kill her for Roman, and he got away with it. Then something came between them and he snapped. Like a new neighbor or work friend that he thinks Sidney is fooling around with or something, which turns into a "you really ARE just like your mother! Roman was right all along" type of thing. A strong consensus that I've come across is saying it needs to tie back to the original, and not have a new killer. Of course, their silly suggestion is that the killer has to be Stu even though he's been confirmed to be dead. I think Kincaid being the Ghostface that got away with it for so long would have had a huge impact, and like you said, "The betrayal would've been heavier from Dempsey". Now, I have no predictions.

That was a separate heist movie. It wasn't a straight up remake of the movie with a female cast instead of male.

The goal was to expose predators. It has done that.
There is a LOT in this movie that makes you ignore logic and any sense of reality, this being a prime example. It's a shame, as the originals done by We Craven are far more grounded.
