"Ukraine must find the courage to raise the white flag"
For this opinion the Pope is getting canceled today. But isnt he right?
shareFor this opinion the Pope is getting canceled today. But isnt he right?
shareHe also clearly spoke of "defeat" of Ukraine. Thats a big deal and he is right.
shareHe's an avowed Marxist. No one is surprised he would advocate for the spread of Communism or the return of same to former communist counties.
The ironic thing is that what Catholics are left are the low middle to middle class who work for a living. The Catholic church could not do more to drive more people away from this dying religion if they tried.
Putin isnt communist though
shareModern Russia is not communist
shareFunny that Muricans are still more afraid of communism than of the fascism they have these days. I guess you are none of its victims?
share
No Komrade, we're fine.
Fascism is nothing more than communism with a nationalist bent. Gladly, the U.S. is not suffering under either at the moment, though there is a large push towards communism underway. One hopes we'll have the sense and strength to fight it off.
shareFunny that you Russian whores are all up in America's business like your mother's nose in my asshole. If you Russians hate Americans this much, why come on OUR websites and talk endlessly about OUR politics?
shareNot every day I agree with a pope.
Of course he is correct and way more realistic about this whole endeavor than Ukraine and the western "Allies" are, still pretending throwing money and weapons at Ukraine will change the inevitable.
It won't.
Putin Puppet Pope.
I wanted to lay claim to that before anyone else.
Maker Of Life willing, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will, in the next 24 hours, issue a reply along the following lines:
“Pope Francis, we Ukranians have heard your suggestion, and propose a trade... We’ll raise our white flag to Moscow, when every last one of your priests swears a blood oath, to keep their penises out of little boys's assholes. And when your nuns start diddling each other, instead of all those little girls who’ve ended up in their clutches”
You're just disgusting, Juanita. 🌵
shareNo, he's not. Russia is the aggressor in this, and is trying to seize territory from a smaller, weaker neighbor by force. Ukraine is far from perfect, but it is the aggrieved party, has the moral high ground. Ukraine is morally in the right to resist this. The loss of life is regrettable, but those calling for Ukraine to raise the right flag are basically saying the bully should go ahead and get what he wants.
At some point Ukraine, because it is smaller and weaker, is likely to have to accept an end to this conflict that sees Russia maintain its grip on the territory it stole, but that will be a matter of acknowledging a regrettable pragmatic necessity, not morality. When that happens, if it happens, it will be a victory for the bad guy.
So for as long as Ukraine has the capacity to resist, it is right to do so. And the longer they hold out, the more damage they inflict on Russia, the stronger their negotiating position will be when the point comes that they have no choice.
Ukraine lost. The time to seek compromise is now. You want other Ukranian lives to die pointlessly. Its more than 2 years of war. Its over.
shareThat's up to the Ukrainians, not you. Zelensky's popularity in Ukraine remains high, and support for the war continues among the Ukrainian people. If the Ukrainians have the will to keep resisting, more power to them. As I said, they should keep resisting as long as they have the capacity and the will to do so.
And no, I don't want Ukrainians to die pointlessly. It's NOT pointless. There's a definite point to resisting aggression -- to resisting evil -- that you seem unable to see: if aggression works, if aggression gets positive results, aggressors will be emboldened, and you'll see more of them acting on their base desires just to take whatever they want. Even if you can't defeat an aggressor, making him pay a terrible, perhaps even unacceptable price for his aggression has a point. There's a word for this concept: deterrence. That's why the Romans said, all those centuries ago si vis pacem, para bellum.
Darren, stop polluting this debate with intelligence, logic, and reason. It really makes it hard for those who want to grab their ankles for Putin to defend. Thanks.
Russia has wiped out a significant percentage of their population and they are arresting those that seek to leave the country to avoid being conscripted. I'll let your falsehoods regarding morality go but just recognize that only those in power desire to continue to force the relatively innocent into the meatgrinder. Continue to defend that if you like but you will likely find few that agree that more Ukrainians need to die before ending the war, especially among the male population of Ukraine.
shareWhy are trumpists so stupid? I can't.
shareF Off, Ivan.
