Why is she famous?

Thanks for posting these quotes. I have only ever seen Mandy Moore as a rather low-key pop star who isn't terribly comfortable in the limelight.I love the fact that people might not know who she is. That means that she doesn't have the ridiculous drama that people like Lindsay Lohan or Brittany Spears have had in the past. I'm not sure why i_love_david_thewlis hates her so much but it seems to be without just cause. Mandy Moore has played a large variety of roles including some snobs. (just like many actresses in their teens) If someone plays a certain type of role more than once (because they do it well) are we to immediately assume that they ARE that person? Alan Rickman constantly plays villians. Are we to believe that he is an evil person? Or that Anthony Hopkins (one of the kindest men in real life) is really a crazed psychopath? Absurd!

Mandy Moore's initial career was controlled by her manager and record label. She didn't write the songs and didn't have much control with them. This is what she is apologizing for. She's embarassed with the work that she did because it was a sell out essentially. I'm an artist and have certainly done work that was for the money and not something that I would normally do. Am I embarassed by the work? A little bit. Trust me, even artistic masters had pieces of art that they did for commissions that they didn't associate themselves with. Some artists would even sign the work differently so that it wouldn't be linked to them!
