Why is she famous?

I don't know who she is. Did she sing first or was she one of those disney show people like claire danes and the cyrus chick?

She's famous because she has sold over 8 million records worldwide and has starred in four films that have grossed over $100 million. But much of this success occurred in the late 1990's and the early part of this decade, and alas her popularity has waned since.

Another reason for her fame is she's quite pretty.

She was never connected with Disney (until recently, that is).

She's famous for being one of the big 4 female pop-stars during the late 90s early 2000s and had quite a number of big hits. She then stepped into the movie role and actually picked a good one in "A Walk to Remember."

She is the only one of the big 4 who didn't have anything to do with Disney at the start of her career.

Britney Spears & Christina Aguilera started on MMC (Britney the dancer, Christina the singer).

Jessica Simpson auditioned for a part on MMC, but was the girl who had to follow Christina's stunning performance, and in the end not making it through.

She also apologized to all her fans for the music she made int he late 90s and early 2000s and came out with more Jewel type albums which didn't really sell, and she's wanting to do those more.

As for acting, how many snobby girl characters are you talking about I don't remember many outside of Princess Diaries, Southland Tales, and American Dreamz. In the movie Saved she was a super hardcore crazy Christian, then she was the daughter of a preacher in A Walk to Remember, and the rest of her movies were just the typical Hollywood romance films and RomComs.

Wow, I'm surprised you actually dug deep in her messageboard to find THIS particular thread topic from almost two years ago.

I've read interviews where she mentions not wanting to be the "blonde bimbo" poptart...which is EXACTLY how she got famous to begin with.

So what are you saying? That you want her to admit to wanting to be the blonde bimbo poptart. She was 14 and 15 when she did that! Yes, it's what made her famous but she has never shown that she was ungrateful for the opportunity. Is it because she said she didn't like that music? Well excuse her for having an opinion about her past.

Mandy is a snob and tries hard to be classy? What type of behavior would you think was more acceptable if she wanted to tell people that she didn't like the music she did when she was younger? She has always said that she was grateful for the opportunity and that the music she did back then was APPROPRIATE for her AGE. She compares it to someone looking back at themselves when they were 14, 15 and cringing. I mean everyone has been there, looked back and said 'oh god, that was me when i was younger'.

As for her trying to be classy, she has always been classy EVEN when she was a 'blonde bimbo poptart', she NEVER shaded anyone and always kept to herself. If you watch old interviews with her, she comes across as nothing but sweet.

Putting others down? Mandy has never slammed any of the other girls. Give me a quote that says she did. All she says is that her music was horrible, she never talked about any of the other girls, infact she even went as far as to say the other girls made 'quality pop songs'.

As for her newer albums not selling, that's exactly what she was expecting, making music that isn't so mainstream isn't going to get you mainstream success but it might get other people to listen to your songs that didn't before.

She's played snobby girls in movies which doesn't help either. At least the casting directors can see her true nature. That argument is so silly it doesn't warrant explanation.

I'm not saying Jessica, Britney, or Christina are classy girls, but I'd choose any one of them over Mandy, hands down, any day. They don't have to put each other down, consistently dye their hair bland brown, or try to distance themselves from each other to make them feel better about themselves. Mandy is just a snob.

You're right, those three have all been trainwrecks in the past decade, from their own doing or not.

Jessica and Britney as far as I know haven't been nasty to any one in particular but Christina is KNOWN for being an absolute bitch. Read up on the comments by Vin Diesel, Mary J Blige, Valerie Bertinelli etc. She's only made nice in recent times probably due to waning popularity but there was this one time when she threw Britney under the bus and said how Britney shouldn't be trying to be a good girl when her performances speak otherwise. I used to be a fan of hers until I read up on how nasty she is as a person.

I am much more proud to be a fan of Mandy's than the other girls who I don't think I've ever really been fans of except for maybe Christina during her 'Stripped' era but then I grew up and found out she was a total bitch. The worst thing someone can say about Mandy is that she is a phony and that's probably because she might come across as too nice. However if you look back on interviews when she was younger in the industry, the same nice exterior has always been there. She's not a robot and is allowed to act pissed off and whatever from time to time like any human being but for the most part, she is a nice person.

But she insists her 1990s pop contemporaries should proud of their hits: "I found myself in the company of Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, who had really quality music, much more so than mine. I'm sure there are people scratching their heads, going 'Wow, how is she [Mandy] still around?'"

She says, "I feel terrible about it. I feel like I should give everyone a refund.
"But you live and you learn. It was exciting for me just to be in a studio at that age, recording material that people had written for me.
"Then you grow up, your tastes change, and that's obviously going to be reflected in the music you do."

"I'm mediocre at both. I'm not trying to come across as self-deprecating. I'm just being honest." Moore was launched as a pop star in the late 1990s, at the same time as blonde lookalikes BRITNEY SPEARS, CHRISTINA AGUILERA and JESSICA SIMPSON. She explains, "I'm sure I was viewed as the young, untalented one. "Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera had some great pop music. And then there was Jessica Simpson. And then there was me. And that's fine."

The singer is baffled by reports she's at odds with the superstars - because she has never had a bad word to say about either of them.
She says, "I'm not cool enough to see them on a daily basis. You meet people and you bump into them occasionally, but I have no problems with them.
"They're amazing and they're successful and they do what they do very well."

Well you said 'indirectly' so I'm just going to see this as you interpreting her words differently and not because she's actually ever said anything derogatory about them. If anything, Mandy always makes herself look like an idiot by always being so down on herself and putting everyone else above her.
