Isn't it sad that she was only known for "Jagged Little Pill"?

An album she did in her early 20s? It seems after that album, no one really cared about her anymore and she tanked in popularity and sales.

It would be easy to label her fame and success for "Jagged Little Pill". But the truth is that she isn`t only known for that album alone. She was known for her two following albums as well, despite how they weren`t as huge landmarks as "Pill". Sure, it was "Pill" that made her a star and popularity declined afterwards. But it doesn`t mean that she`s truly labeled for that album alone, despite how her followers didn`t surpass her predecessors in sales.

Lot of hits on that album.

Alanis has a pretty large and devote fanbase. But she never really secured mass mainstream appeal. If i'm still listening to her on the PA while grocery shopping she did something right.

It might have helped if she had died young from a drug overdose or plane crash.

reply

Well that entire album was incredible.

Had more hits than most singers have in a career.

reply

she went down on Dave Coulier in a movie theatre

It's one of the greatest, most awarded, most influential, and best selling albums of all time.

Nothing sad about that.

Mark Fidrych in 1976 had one of the greatest, most celebrated, most influential, and most impressive seasons of all-time.

But he did nothing of note afterwards.

You can't cite his 1976 season to claim that there is "Nothing sad about that."

There's still some disappointment when you look at Alanis' career as a whole

I'm sure she's not sad when looking at her $60M bank account.

reply

She wouldn’t have $60M in her bank account, or close to it. I don’t think even Donald Trump ever had so much in his bank account. Her net worth might be $60M (though that sounds a bit high, I’d have to look it up). But no way she has $60M of cash

That's a stupid analogy.

Apples and oranges.

Once you put an album out, it exists permanently.

It can be discovered by a new listener every day for the rest of time.

That would be like a baseball season that lasted forever ( ie a really big deal )

reply

I still get her confused with Sheryl Crow.
