She made a lot of bad TV (no disprespect)
When I looked at her filmography, I was struck by all the failed TV series.
I guess her really great show overshadow all that.
Just to keep the record straight Mary did not want to end her series in 1977. The contracts with the cast expired that year and, even though her production company offered them more money, they wanted to move on because some of them had offers from other networks.
With regards to the title of this thread - Mary would have agreed with you. She often talked about how hard it was to find good material, and she said she realized she'd been spoiled at an early age by working with Carl Reiner.
