He is way too old for Iron Man now.

he is almost 70. his marvel career is toast.

reply

The math seems to check out.

reply

reply

Right. But still too old now. Thankfully he's done with MCU. Smart move on his part.

reply

Not 70 but 58..59 in a month....still TOO OLD..
.plus it's been confirmed he doesn't want to ever again.. πŸ˜‚

He should play it if people want it.

Personally I could care less - I've never seen an "Iron Man" movie.

Actually let me not say that - I did see some of part 2 because I like Mickey ROurke (I think it was part 2).

Anyway, back to Downey - he's gotta be the luckiest person walking this Earth. What he did to himself for decades is beyond belief. Then he finally gets it together (supposedly) - starts trying to be an actor again, and "Iron Man" comes his way. "Iron Man" put him back in the game and fixes his checkbook. If I was him, and people wanted it, I'd do another "Iron Man" out of sheer gratitude.

Everything you just said is spot on.. He's 100% very lucky to have turned his career around before it was too late.. You know?? When I think of early RDJ, I think of the 1988 movie "LESS THAN ZERO".. Watch that..

reply

Hello BKB - yeah I've seen it- LTZ I mean. He was ok. I couldn't stand him on a personal level. Watching him lie over and over again about how he had cleaned his act up.

ANyway, him destroying himself - it made no difference to me because one was never a fan.

Then, for like the 25th time, he was supposedly clean. THIS time there was no doubt! He had finally cleaned up his act. I was like, yeah, whatever.

So he wants to work again, but, and rightfully so, he was having trouble.

Then "Iron Man" came his way. If "Iron Man" was a failure, he'd probably be done. As we all know, it was a huge hit. It turned everything around for hm career wise. So, yeah, if I'm RDjr - I'd be extremely grateful - happily doing another one if the fans wanted it.

Addiction is a frustrating thing, for both the addicted and those in their family- fandom- ect. Mr. Downey did not mean to lie, and in every case he likely believed what he was saying, it's just a powerful foe he was facing. It's easy to judge, but before 12 step groups there were two choices- death and asylums. Think about that. If you think the impact of it all was bad for you think what it was like for him. If anything he deserves respect for pursuing recovery despite his many failures. He achieved what most do not over an enemy that he never asked for- stud material IMO.

reply

Hello

No impact on me at all as I was never a fan. With his drug problems, yes, I am sorry he went through that.

But I could tell he was lying with his endless claims of "I'm definitely clean!".

I didn't think he'd ever get it together. Apparently he has so, good for him.

Thanks for the reply - best wishes

We need him for Sherlock Holmes.

reply

Yes, theres only two sherlock holmes movies yet he appeared as iron man in over a dozen movies.
We need Sherlock Holmes 3: The Illustrious Client
and Irene Adler shall return : )

reply

Waiting for it so long time now.

reply

I dont really know the name of the movie or if Irene Adler will return, but I have wanted a Sherlock Holmes 3 for so very long now as well. I loved the chemistry of Robert Downey and Jude Law and I enjoyed the setting.

reply

The chemistry between RD and JL, the music, the city of London, Moriarty, Lestrade...πŸ‘

reply

I thought it was interesting in the first film when Lestrade turned out to be a member of that secret society, like a double twist when he punches Holmes and then later helps him escape. I still hum the music from time to time. And the world in the movies felt authentic and "lived in".

reply

That is why we are waiting for....

Sherlock Holmes 3: The Games Afoot

I mean, who's going to turn down a $50 million payday to play a superhero? No one. That's all that Hollywood is about, money and power. Entertainment isn't even a priority, and hasn't been for decades.

Dave Chappelle?

And Neal McDonough https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0568180/?ref_=tt_cl_t_4

He refused doing any scene with him engaging in romantic acts with any woman that wasnt his wife. Was blacklisted for awhile but held by his convictions and began getting steady work again.

reply

I had heard he really is considering it.

reply

Close. Dr. Doom is a man in an iron suit.
