Actually he's facing 5 years prison time
not 18 months as the press are reporting
shareDoesnt seem right to me. It was an accident.
shareDepends how culpable he is, remember he's a producer of the movie too ,
shareThat is true, he owes her family a load of money, whatever happens in the criminal case. I think they may have already made a deal for that part. For criminal conviction, I cant see how it is his fault when the prop guy told him the gun was safe. Actors on a movie set point guns at others all the time.
shareThat's false. They generally avoid actually pointing a gun at anyone if it can be helped. Most of the time it's not necessary. If they want a shot that really requires it, they'll take safety measures, like using shielding to protect crew members.
shareI dont agree. It also seems very weird that it took such a long time to issue charges...feels like political pressure at work. I mean, I am not a big Baldwin fan or anything but I think prosecutors overdo it many times.
shareYou just don't agree. Those are the rules on a set. It doesn't really matter whether you agree with them or not. They really tightened up the rules after Brandon Lee was killed by a gun that was supposed to contain blanks.

He demanded a REAL gun was used for authenticty.
He refused gun safety training.
He was a producer on a set that already had known safety issues.
He didn't do what is required by his contract, required by SAG safety bulletins which is to treat the gun as though it is loaded with live ammo. Actors are supposed to have it checked in front of him at each hand off.
He pointed straight at her and fired. You NEVER do that, even on a movie set.
That's why he's being charged with manslaughter. He didn't intend to kill anyone, but he was behaving recklessly with the gun.
share48 months tops.
shareI don’t understand how it’s his fault, it’s people whose job it is to make sure this stuff doesn’t happen
shareHe was a producer on the movie, so he hired the prop people, and cheaped out on it too.
He also did not check the gun before firing, which most veteran actors will do regardless of how many prop people have checked the gun. And he pointed the gun at a person, which is also something actors will try to avoid as much as possible.
It’s the AD’s fault not his
shareThe scene called for him to point the gun at the camera and pull the trigger (for the real movie scene). There is video of him doing that. Whether they have that exact shot on camera though is yet to be seen. But that is what he's directed to do for that scene. Point the gun towards the camera.
shareThat will be 18 months in protective custody with a commissary fund to keep him nice and comfortable the entire time.
