I want to support my sister in her divorce, but the manosphere tells me she is avoiding accountability?

My sister's husband has been physically abusive, and she is divorcing him. I went to my usual online haunts (as we do), looking for advice. I'm primarily active in the manosphere, which generally tells me that my sister is reneging on "till death do us part", that men do not physically abuse their wives without prompting, and that my sister is displaying a lack of accountability for her role in the marriage breakdown.

I was initially taken aback by what I thought was a lack of empathy for an abused woman, but it did give me pause for thought. Could rushing to my sister's defence be misguided? Could she, as someone who lives life on easy mode by virtue of her sex, be shunning accountability in the collapse of her marriage? I was furious with my brother in law for striking my sister, but I'm now challenged to examine the possibility that he was driven to it by an unappreciative, overbearing spouse.

reply

“striking my sister”

That should be all you need to know to make the right decision.

reply

I can't say I've come across too many people saying a woman should stay with an abusive man, or woman or gender non conforming human.

But of course she should leave him.

reply

Could she, as someone who lives life on easy mode by virtue of her sex

DUDE.....FUCK YOU.

reply

After your first sentence, it's strange to me that you're entertaining this with someone who was physically abusive to your sister.

reply

Do women live life on easy street? Absolutely but I would say if you know your sister you'd have a pretty good idea if she similar values as you do. If she has proof of physical abuse that's kind of enough for grounds for divorce.

reply

Can you explain to me how women 'live life on easy street' as you say?

reply

They go to any bar put their tits on display and can fuck any dude they want by the end of the night. They only allow a certain percentage of men the chance to be sexual beings. Affirmation actions laws guarantee they are first in line for any job they want.

reply

Would you sleep with a fat woman who 'put her tits on display' at a bar? This is your idea of an easy life?

Women suffer terrible pain every month for about 40 years of their life, it sucks, you have no clue.

What affirmation laws are you talking about that make companies hire women instead of men?

reply

Terrible pain to be desired by every man alive? no. Every job I've ever applied for I know a woman will always be first in line before me. That's how affirmative action laws work.

reply

God you are dumb. Affirmative action has nothing to do with gender. I'm sure women will be in line ahead of you because in general women are more educated and you are stupid.

reply

"because in general women are more educated"

In the fluff areas like "liberal arts" and "gender studies." Let's compare women's contributions to men's in the areas that actually make the "world go 'round," e.g., technological, engineering (structural, mechanical, electrical), construction, computer science, medical, aeronautics, physics, and so on.

Of all the bits of technology that worked in concert to allow you to make your post (e.g., integrated circuit, microprocessor, LCD or other type of video display, touch-screen or keyboard + mouse, operating system with a graphical user interface, the World Wide Web, the internet itself, the TCP/IP protocol stack, HTML, batteries or AC electricity at a regulated voltage delivered to your home over a massive power grid infrastructure, and many other things), how many do you suppose were invented by and/or primarily developed by women?

reply

good list of "areas that actually make the "world go 'round, "
I did about half that list at college thinking if I did something really technical* that was also vital to society I'd be well rewarded for it. That didnt really happen though.
My dad laughed when I told him the above and said "Engineers are the most underrated professions ever"

*back when technical meant "difficult"

reply

They only allow a certain percentage of men the chance to be sexual beings

wow what a sentence right there. It really gives a window into the psyche of someone who would write that.

reply

Well that explains the problem - going to bars to hook up; best way I can think of to meet people of either sex who are looking for a quality relationship. Guess people do it in their early 20's, but generally grow out of that mindset fairly quickly.

reply

By no means do I identify as a "feminist." but that is the biggest crock of shit and exactly why some women really do hate men,

reply

What do you take issue with? Saying women live life on easy street because they do. They can whine all they want about they don't like getting all the attention from guys but refuse to understand how dating and sex is totally rigged in their favor.

reply

supply and demand innit .
If all men wernt horny dogs that will screw anything women wouldn't have that advantage would they ?

So its the fault of you (and all other men collectively) , not the women

reply

Support your sister instead of her abuser.

reply

Your Brother in Law struck your sister and you should've kicked this guy's ass for it, but in any event, divorce his ass I say

reply

Alex, I'll take "Things That Never Happened" for $400.

reply

Did ye, aye?

Either it didn't happen or he's asking the wrong people for advice. No one with 1/3 of a brain would say a man only abuses by prompting or out of necessity.
