Aye! I like Mr. Peaceful Man’s attitude! I like it a lot. It makes a change from the don’t-take-no-bullshit don’t-take-no-names kind of cowboy we usually see.

reply

Whenever I see movies from this era, I can't help but imagine all the shady stuff going on behind the scenes. For instance, I wouldn't be surprised if a cigar-chomping executive walked up to a child loitering on set and said, "Hey, kid - the cops just said and said your parents died, so I had the studio adopt you. Now you're going to make Little Rascals movies for us. Hope you like cigarettes!"

reply

I would be willing to make Little Rascals movies in exchange for cigarettes. That sounds like a good deal.

reply

You sir, sure have a fertile imagination!

reply

Okay, that didn't make sense. Cochise calls them Americans. Wouldn't he call them white men??

reply

I’ll just put that along with the explanation we had in the beginning that he’s telling the story different than it actually happened. And makes all the inaccuracy kind of makes sense. Sort of.

reply

Yep, sort of.

reply

I love the orchestral music, SUPER dramatic👍

reply

Same

reply

Alfred Newman was the musical director.

reply

Fine work!
Also, tell him I loved MAD Magazine 😄

reply

This film was nominated for three Academy Awards, including best cinematography, screenplay, and supporting actor.

reply

At 41, James Stewart was 26 years older than Debra Paget, who was still only 15 when filming began in early June 1949.

reply

Wow, fifteen? It was generous of the producers to cut her a break even though she was past her prime.

reply

Good lordy! 😆

reply

It's kind of creepy once you know this.

reply

Yeah, I don't know why they couldn't have found a good actress closer to Stewart's age.

reply

Agreed. The studios made plenty of strange casting decisions back then.

reply

I feel like they still do.
It’s always a Liam
Neesom with a thirty year old woman LOL!

reply

Can't disagree - yes, they still do it. Back when the studios ran everything, I can sort of understand that they wanted to use the actors they had under contract, but still...

I have no idea what led to the casting decisions in this movie, though.

reply

Sonseeahray doesn't know about mirrors, but earlier there were other Indian scouts using mirrors to send signals. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

🙄

reply

This actress is clearly not native american 😆

reply

She had to wear brown contact lenses as she had piercing blue eyes which native Americans don't have.

reply

I’m canceling this entire movie, that’s cultural appropriation!!!
