Who is the BBC tv star taken off air ? I don't watch enough TV to know who should be on but now isn't. They say he's a household name. I'm thinking either ? or ? šŸ¤”

*edited out original thoughts as it's pretty clear who it is now *

I don't think Jonathan Ross does any work for the BBC any more. He left years ago after all the controversy over that phone call to Andrew Sachs and just general annoyance at how much he was earning. As far as I'm aware he's had an exclusive contract with ITV ever since.

The Graham Norton Show is currently off-air. But I'm reliably informed that's because it's summer. And that happens every year, apparently. That doesn't rule Norton out entirely, but he's not someone who currently should be on air but isn't -- so if it is Norton, the BBC is being disingenuous about their phrasing. They haven't taken him off the air. He's just not on the air.

As for who else might be in the frame: no idea. Twitter is wild with speculation but most of it that I can see is 'I hope it's X. I hate X.' Which... isn't terribly useful.

Shows how long it's been since I watched the BBC šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø. After what happened with Phil, this bloke's career is gone forever.

reply

I wonder if it's a newsreader?

reply

Could be. Aside from the silly 'I hope it's X, I hate X' posts, I see a lot of people suggesting it's a journalist. And if it's a 'household name' journalist, there's a strong possibility it's a newsreader.

They got rid of Jonathon Ross because he wasn't as bad as the others, so they make up "controversy"

Mr Blobby.

šŸ˜³I always thought he was a wrong'nšŸ˜„

I assume you're talking about this

None of the articles said which presenter it was so I have no idea.

All I do know is it's unlikely to be Jonathan Ross, pretty sure he isn't on BBC radio anymore and his TV chat show is on ITV.

reply

Yeah capuchin told me. I haven't watched normal TV for a few years so didn't realise. The 2000s were only a decade ago in my head šŸ˜

reply

No idea, but I'm starting to see a lot of '[Insert name] vehemently denies he is BBC presenter taken off air' headlines! šŸ˜‚

reply

Not guilty.

has the name leaked yet?

reply

There was some confusion over the gender of the teen in question, very vague reporting not using gendered terms, however it has been stated that it's a boy.

So it's an openly gay presenter or a closeted one. (Always juicy when someone gets outed.)

Link to video of a news report where it was revealed to be a boy.

Brits are just disgusting. They eat eels or something for breakfast. Smh

reply

Yep, with black pudding and dripping šŸ˜‹

reply

Nothing wrong with black pudding! Eels, dripping, those are a different matter.

reply

I've never known of anyone who has eaten (jellied) eel. Defo not a staple in my part of the country. Nor anywhere else these days I should imagine. Sounds vile šŸ¤¢

reply

It's very popular with cockneys!

reply

I've eating black pudding!

Once.
