Do you still watch ANY cop shows?

If not, what was your last one?

I was at a friends house recently & one of his relatives was watching CSI. Apparently, they brought it back. Same with Criminal Minds.

Then I realised, No one in my friends group, irl or online, watches cop shows anymore. Except for the older generation, the genre is "dead"

I grew up on 'em. My teen years were dominated by Cop Shows. Like every network had some. I used to watch all THREE CSI shows, NCIS, Castle, Numbers, Cold Case, Criminal Minds, Without a trace, Bones, The District & The Closer just to name some.

You know how Superhero content is everywhere, that was basically the case for cop shows. They over-saturated the market & I got burnt out by the early 2010s.

I think the last one I watched was Bosch but I didn't even get to finish it.

We watch the Rookie out of loyalty to Nathan Fillion.

I can only assume Firefly.

Firefly and that he's Canadian, especially since he's from Edmonton.

Who the hell cares about people from Ontario or Quebec.

The last cop show I saw was Luther. I haven't seen any new cop shows since that ended.

reply

Great show. That's the show that made a huge fan of Idris Elba.

Did you watch the Netflix movie? Haven't gotten to it yet. I've heard mixed things from friends.

reply

Yes. I'm one of the very few people who thought it was great.

reply

Good to hear. Looking forward to watching it.

Elba & Andy Serkis are both fantastic actors

reply

Yes, The Shield.

reply

I am currently watching Will Trent on Disney+. I am also rewatching The Glades, Life and Psych

reply

Both Life & Psych were excellent! Life was cancelled to soon.

Psych was freaking hilarious. One of my favorite shows.

reply

Good question. Hadn't thought about it. I guess the last one that I followed was Criminal Minds but I haven't seen that in years.

reply

I haven't watched Criminal Minds in a decade. It just became formulaic & predictable for me.

The unsubs just became less & less interesting with each season imo.

The Mandy Patinkin seasons plus a season or two after are still great & hold up pretty well in my opinion..

reply

I watch old detective shows on MeTV.

reply

I still watch old episodes of the X-Files, if that counts.

reply

I've been wanting to rewatch it for years. Haven't actually watch th original run in YEARS

reply

I watch the old "Law & Order" reruns (only Seasons 1-14...I just can't watch the post-Jerry Orbach episodes).

reply

Jerry Orbach and Sam Waterston made that show for me.

reply

They were great for sure!

reply

Same for me with Law & Order: Criminal Intent with Vincent D'Onofrio

I wouldn't say the seasons without his character, Goren, are completely unwatchable but it's not quite as enjoyable

The last cop show that I watched which I never saw in its initial run was Life on Mars. It wasn't the greatest but I liked it well enough.

I own all the seasons of NYPD Blue, Monk, Psych and about eight season of Criminal Minds. I still haven't watched all the CM episodes yet. I always miss Mandy Patinkin but Joe Mantegna was a great replacement.

One of my favorites is Homicide (I have all the seasons). I loved that show and never missed an episode.

I loved, loved Cagney and Lacey. Still don't own any of the DVDs, but sometimes I borrow the ones from our local library. I still want to get the series.

reply

Joe Mantegna was a really wonderful addition to Criminal Minds.

The show just fell off for me.

reply

Yes...I really liked "Criminal Intent" with D'Onofrio also. As a fan of the original "Law & Order," it was nice to see Chris Noth as Mike Logan again (and with D'Onofrio suffering from exhaustion, it helped to save the show for awhile). I didn't like the way his story ended during "Law & Order" (especially the movie that featured him), so it was nice to see him in action again.
