what's the best food for an upset stomach?
salted crackers
applesauce.
A bowl of cornflour and milk. Place a cup of milk in a saucepan and add half a teaspoon of vanilla essence, a teaspoon of sugar and some ginger and cinnamon to taste. Gently bring the milk towards a simmer. Put a tablespoon of cornflour in a bowl with some water and stir to dissolve it. When the milk is near a simmer add the cornflour to it gradually and keep stirring until the mixture thickens.
Eat it up with a spoon. Takes a little while to kick in but it works to settle an upset stomach. Add an egg yolk to the recipe and you have an old school custard.
i might try this if i had any corn flour.
shareI use cornflour to thicken stews and sometimes soups so it's a pantry staple for me. Another thing you could try is a tablespoon of vinegar in half a glass ( or a little more ) of water. That can be very effective if you just have indigestion and can provide rapid relief. Of course it depends what the cause of the upset stomach is. If it's an ulcer or gastric erosion then you need prescription medicine and watch your diet for a month or so.

I’ve always heard Ginger Ale but I don’t know if it is true.
shareIt's what I use to use. Canada Dry, stirred a bit to cut the carbonation.
shareGinger ale works for me.
shareAt this point, most relief from ginger ale is simply placebic. Unless its a craft, small brand it probably doesn't have any significant amount of ginger in it, which is good at settling a stomach, but is mostly absent in major brand ginger ale.
sharePepto-Bismol. Ok I know it is not a food.
