Christmas…
What is every one doing for Christmas this year?
shareIn addition to the friends-and-family stuff I have a yearly tradition of watching the Alistair Sim Christmas Carol on Christmas Eve.
shareI watch Casablanca. It always seemed to be on TV on Christmas Eve so you'd watch it as presents were wrapped. Guess it became a kind of tradition.
shareCasablanca's awesome, so even though I don't think of it as a Christmas movie, any movie night with Bogey and Bergman is a good one.
shareTime well spent. I haven’t seen Casablanca in years. That dialogue, the exotic setting, the subtle humor and the broken romance.
What a story!
My favourite version of all the Christmas Carol/Scrooge movies.
shareIt rules. Sim is a master. I wound up loving it so much that I miss the changes it makes to the story (the origin for Scrooge's animosity to his nephew, the extra scenes of his becoming a nasty businessman, etc.) in other versions.
shareWe're pretty much stuck at home with this weather. I will probably watch "It's A Wonderful Life" on TV (assuming it's still on). Also, being a guitar player, I love to play Christmas carols on the guitar, so I will be doing that today as well.
shareOur family party was last night, so just relaxing tomorrow and watching football, then my husband and I are going to the Chart House for dinner. Christmas Day is always low keyed for us.
shareFeeling MISERABLE due to the way that we have NO WATER now because of the awful weather and the freezing temperatures that we're not use to having here in this area.
But at least the power still works & we still have heat.
I'm so sorry to hear you don't have water. Do you think you'll get it back soon?
shareThanks for your concern GE & andreaahr. We've got water again now but no HOT WATER. Believe it or not, this kind of a NO HOT WATER situation has also been happening for a YEAR now. 🙄
Dealing without it isn't so bad in the summertime, but it sucks bigtime not to have HOT WATER in the winter.
How's the situation with the cats? Did you ever get them to stop fighting?
Happy to hear your water is back on.
No, I had no luck with the cats, but thanks for asking. Sadly, I had to rehome them. After weeks of dealing with them, I couldn't take the stress anymore. I couldn't go anywhere for very long. Even a grocery run was stressful, worrying about what I might find when I got home. I thought about keeping one, but simply couldn't choose one over the other. I still miss them.
Sorry to hear about all of the stress that you went through and about how you had to find other homes for them. You certainly did everything that you could & tried your best to find a solution to the situation. Do you think you'll ever get another pet??? Maybe having another one might also help with missing others???.
Since the water is ICE COLD & we still have NO HOT WATER, it also looks like taking a BATH is going to require BOILING LOTS of WATER. I usually take a shower, but that's also not a option when you don't have any HOT WATER anymore.
Oh wow! I pray for a Christmas miracle for you that you will have water again and your house warms up! ❤️
shareThanks andrea. Since we didn't lose power we still have heat.
But when the water came back on again we didn't have any HOT WATER anymore.
So that also means either taking a COLD SHOWER (the water is also ICE COLD), or BOILING some water & putting it into the Bath TUB and mixing it with the COLD water to make it warm enough to be able to take a bath.
And that's also a process that takes forever to complete. 😞
We hosted a comfy and casual family party here today and all the mess is cleaned up now…I never mind hosting but it’s always best to hit the cleanup immediately.
Tomorrow I’ll drive out to my Sister’s home. She has a beautiful, cozy home and a good Husband.
I’ll see my wild boy nephews and toss gifts at them with a beer in one hand lol!
Should be fun.
Merry Christmas to you🎁
Whenever we have a do, I clean as I go. I normally walk around with a bin bag, collecting rubbish - it’s a good way of getting round to talking to all the guests too.
shareYep, I clean as I go too, it’s the smart play.
Funnily enough my Wife, who is simply terrific at hosting and in every other department, leaves a gigantic devastation of pots, pans, cutlery and rubbish in her wake when hosting…I’m always five feet behind her cleaning up lol!
Staying put due to weather. I may be able to visit my daughter and two granddaughters if things are better on Monday (or Boxing Day, in honor of our British friends!).
