I'm a man, but I believe it's because society has taught us that men kissing men is not macho but two women kissing each other is considered hot. I think it's stupid because if I see two men kissing I think, "okay it's just two dudes kissing". Why would I be looking to be turned on by it? When it comes to two women kissing, I don't automatically think it's hot either.
I'm a man, but I believe it's because society has taught us that men kissing men is not macho but two women kissing each other is considered hot
I don't find physical intimacy between two men repulsive because society has taught me to. I just do. It's natural to me to feel that way.
If a gay man is attracted to another man simply because he's born that way, why can't I be repulsed by seeing male intimacy because I was born this way?

YOU WILL NOT RECOVER...YOU ARE TOO DUMB TO DO THE WORK...YOU ARE CURSED TO LIVE YOUR DAYS AS A DENSE SHMUCK WHO DOES NOT REALIZE HOW EMBARRASSING HE IS. NOEMOJI
Do you have anything intelligent to add or do you just hurl insults?
Who are you to tell anyone what they can or can't be attracted to or what they can or can't be repulsed by?
If finding intimate actions between two males repulsive means that I'm an embarrassing dense shmuck (sic), well then I guess I'm an embarrassing dense schmuck. But in reality I'm not the one here.
You said: "it's because society has taught us that men kissing men is not macho."
It has nothing to do with what society has taught us. Natural is natural. It can be natural for a gay man to be attracted to another man. No problems with me. It can also be natural to find seeing it on screen repulsive. But somehow that can only be because "society has taught us that?" Nah.
Correct, but some dude who may be attracted to some other dude can still choose to be disgusted by it because society has told him that two dudes being together is not macho.
as to why that is, it really doesn't matter. we don't want to see men kissing, leave it in the gay cinema for gays - unless it is somehow integral for a very interesting plot.
there's no reason to change that, or accept it, or normalize it.
same reason fish don't have to fly, nor birds swim underwater.
Is it funny your first respondents are all male? But anyway - personally I don't care who is kissing who.
At this present moment in time it's less usual to see two men kissing on screen so maybe that stands out more but I guess we're all getting used to it. As long as nobody scares the horses I don't see what all the fuss is about.
Proud heterosexual man checking in;
- Two men kissing is disgusting. It just is. It's gross. Very off-putting. Always will be for many people (straight men at least if not everyone).
- A man and woman kissing is fine. Normal act. I guess you can picture yourself as the man in the scenario which takes the man out of the situation and places you in it, in a way. Wishing to be in his shoes. As opposed to two men smooching where you'd just vomit at the thought.
- Two women kissing is hot. If they're attractive. Two hotties for the price of one! A purely voyeuristic pleasure.
Conclusion;
We need less man-on-man action and more woman-on-woman action in films.
Nah, you watch all sorts of disgusting things in movies. Is not someone slitting someone's throat disgusting? Yet, you can watch that, right? And you enjoy it if it makes sense for the story.
It's just two men kissing which bothers you, not every disgusting act in a movie. You're afraid of male homosexuality, just admit it. That's the true definition of homopbobia, fear of a man having sex with another man. You're not disgusted. You're afraid. Why does it scare you so much?
I'd sooner watch someone defleshed, dismembered and disemboweled than watch two dudes getting it on. Seriously. It at least scratches a 'morbid curiosity' itch and is completely non-sexual. It's violence. It's a different sphere of being.
Men are gross looking, just as homosexuals can't help being attracted to other men, I can't help but find men hideous. If it makes you feel any better I also would be equally repulsed by a morbidly obese man and morbidly obese woman making out/having sex or other gross sex acts (scatophilia for example, yes some people sexually enjoy getting shit on.)
I'm not speaking from a purtanical anti-LGBT stance in a 'you have to live your life like this' way, as I openly stated my appreciation of lesbians, as long as they're attractive. Two obese dykes would get the same repulsion from me that homosexual men get. So I wouldn't go all in on me being 'homophobic' nor would I be so quick to say I'm 'afraid' of male homosexuality. Am I afraid of unattractive lesbian acts? Why am I not afraid of attractive lesbian acts? It's attraction and the lack thereof. Fear has nothing to do with it. Repulsion. It's just a very gross thing too me.
Attach whatever label you want. Homophobic, fatphobic, scatphobic. It makes no difference and I feel no shame for my feelings. Male-on-male intimacy repulses me deeply. So does obese, unattractive, heterosexual intimacy. It is what it is.
And yet it doesn't bother you to watch a man kiss a woman as long as he's not fat. I get it.
But I thank you for your post. Often I will hear teh breeder say that they hate gays but they're not homophobic because a phobia is a fear, and they're not afraid of male hairdressers and male ballet dancers.
So you'd rather watch someone get disemboweled than watch two men kiss? Your post shows clearly why homophobia is a classic mental illness.
Were you molested as a child? You have an irrational phobia, like a fear of open spaces or heights.
To be fair that's me as an individual. Maybe other men would rather watch two guys kiss than some form of extreme violence. I happen to have a strong stomach for such acts and as a horror main (at least 80% of the films I watch are horror) I guess I have some strange interest in violence. I'm not a typical sample.
No I wasn't thankfully.
I wouldn't call it an 'irrational phobia'. I wouldn't be surprised if over 75% of heterosexual men expressed similar feelings to my own with regards to male-on-male intimacy. It's commonplace and as I mentioned intimacy in general between people who I consider unattractive is quite off-putting and gross. Two unattractive people shoving their tongues down each others throats is barf inducing. It's not like my repulsion is solely directed toward homosexual men. It's jut that group has no saving grace so it's a complete blanket statement. With other groupings (containing women) the attraction of the woman can make it a very appealing sight.
You keep mentioning homophobia but you don't actually know my personal opinions on the LGBT community.
So I'll ask you this;
If a heterosexual man finds male-on-male intimacy to be 'gross' yet supports gay rights (marriage, freedom of sexuality, some representation in media, etc, etc) is he still a 'homophobe'?
Bare in mind this 'homophobe' is particularly interested in seeing more lesbian representation in media. How can you imply someone is against the LGBT community in a way and harbors some form of hatred, when the only negative opinion you know they have towards the group is the fact they find male-on-male intimacy unappealing and icky?
Do you truly believe everyone should be (at worst) indifferent to male-on-male intimacy?
For me that's like saying everyone should be indifferent to unattractive people bumping uglies. It's just not a rational stance. If two unattractive people are getting it on it's gonna be off-putting for many people. That's just how people are.
Hahaha. You like to watch lesbians have sex because you objectify them. C'mon dude, that's a no-brainer. It doesn't indicate a healthy view of yours, theirs or anyone's sexuality. Some day try asking two real lesbians if you can watch them make out. I assure you, you'll find a bulldyke's combat boot in your mouth. Hahaha.
One can be a racist and support the equal application of law to all people regardless of race. Your theoretical support for LGBT rights has nothing to do with your irrational phobias and mental illness.
I'm not saying you need to be attracted to anyone kissing. But you admitted you have no problem watching a man lock lips with a woman. So it's not really the sight of a man kissing which scares you. I suspect you have no problem watching a man's dog lick his face in a movie.
When I was in India I would see men walk together holding hands or with their arms around each other. I was assured there was nothing homosexual about it. It's merely an expression of nonsexual friendship.
Bottom line this is what I'm trying to explain to you. You have been inculcated with a Judeo-Christian fear and hatred of male homosexuality. That's why lesbianism doesn't bother you. It's culturally based, not some natural heterosexual reaction to male homosexuality. It's an irrational fear.
If you had a neutral rational view of male homosexuality, you would be like an Indian man raised in a culture with no homophobic tradition. You would look at two men kissing and think "meh". You wouldn't have a visceral negative reaction.
You have an irrational phobia. A mental illness. Admit it.
So as you state a racist can support anti-racism laws. You believe that homophobes can support pro-LGBT laws. I mean...I guess they can but most evidently would not.
I think your definitions of racism and homophobia are a bit too harsh and black-and-white. A man, such as myself, can be in favor of many LGBT aspects without supporting every single matter. After all I'm not gay so you can't expect me to enjoy gay love scenes now can you?
I see this in many debates, the forcing of an 'us vs them' grouping. You're either all in with us on every matter or you're on their side. It's a lot more fluid than that. For example many women who support most LGB issues but take issue with male-to-female transsexuals are suddenly 'TERFs' and enemies of the LGBT community.
I can support LGBT issues without being okay watching two men make out.
You talk of men in India being okay with holding hands and hugging. Yeah I'm sure they are. It's a gradient. Hugging, kissing, manul simulation, oral sex, anal sex. I assure you that several of these more inclusive peoples would find repulsion setting in at intimate kissing and if not then at actual male-on-male sex.
You are saying people who aren't homophobic will find two men kissing to be indifferent. Would they also find gay pornography indifferent? Do they have to? What are you seeking here? For everyone to be okay with watching full blown male-on-male sex? I assure you many of the people in here who find men kissing to be ok would find full blown gay pornography gross. It's a matter of what someone is comfortable with viewing. For me intimate kissing crosses the boundaries. Most people have boundaries.
Me liking lesbians isn't culturally based. It's biological. I find women sexually attractive and two of them going at it turns me on. If I was basing my opinions due to cultural influences I'd be vehemently anti-LGBT in all aspects due to 'judeo-christian' indoctrination.
trusts your guts man, dont listen to the brainwashed desensitized semi-fags. if youre stomach doesnt turn looking at homosexual acts, youre not straight
Let's say 75% of heterosexual men find male-on-male intimacy repulsive. Do you believe that 75% of men are secretly homosexual? Seriously?
I don't subscribe to the belief that homophobia is a 'secretly homosexual' on 'openly homosexual' crime. It's not a good stance to have and blames homosexuals (regardless of how they view themselves) for their own woes. Implying that 'self hating gays' are pushing for anti-gay laws and homophobic sentiment?
They do seem to come with three pre-packaged comebacks;
1. You're an evil genocidal bastard who wants to kill all LGBT and POC.
2. You're secretly gay. Stop hating yourself.
3. You're an 'incel'.
It depends on the men and the type of kiss. Interview with the Vampire tv show, I find the actors very hot together. The love scene they had very sensual.
Usually I find I want to be in the middle or want to be the object of their affection.
I'm straight so watching two chicks kiss does nothing for me. Doesn't make me uncomfortable tho.
I don't think men have been paying attention but M/M romance been booming among women. In erotica/romance, manga/webtoons and Asian dramas. It's a genre called boy love. Thailand in particular been making boy love dramas and they are a hit.
i would say we (men) don't NEED to pay attention. it doesn't interest most of us. I know I will never embrace something called 'boy love'. jeez... I feel like turning myself in for even typing that shit! :D
I don't care at all if it succeeds, more power to it. It's not for me, and I will avoid it.
OP wanted an answer from a women's perspective. Me bringing up boy love lets him know just how popular M/M is with the feminine audience. You might not think you need to pay attention but I say you should. A lot of y'all daughters & wives are reading & watching this stuff just saying.
I didn't say you had to go seek it out.
I noticed men get really offensive when it comes to homosexuality. Why? The way some of y'all act you would think, it's a new thing considering men been fucking men since Roman times. Maybe even earlier than that. As long as it's legal consenting adults and not children, do you.
You can say I should all you like, I would never stop you from saying whatever you want, I'm for free speech.
Again, I don't WANT TO, and WILL NOT pay attention to it. I'm aware. That's plenty.
"Men get really offensive"..... easy answer and you should have seen it coming: because it is OFFENSIVE to most of us. it's really that simple, not complex or hidden in any way. Please notice not 50% of men participate in gay sex and kissing... what is it like 3%? 3%. or 2 or 6 whatever. A TINY portion.
I will repeat my long held stance that I always say here:
"I never care what people do behind closed doors, but I don't have to see it"
do your thing, I'll never stop you, and I don't care, but start making it public and involve our chidren's minds, and we'll start putting that back in it's place.
Of course we should pay attention to what people really think and say
The worst i find is that the more freedom of speechy they are, the less they wsnt to actually think, just repeat verbatim the same rhetoric overandover
We should pay attention to each other, is s very valid statement
I hate the sound of people kissing on film. They often make it sound like eating, and I don't care for it. So, that being said, if the sound is minimal I have no issues with men kissing men, women kissing women, or men kissing women. I want a story that engages me, and a reason for the kissing.
Woman here. I think hotness of on-screen kissing is determined by the skill of the actors and filmmakers. They know how to make something look erotic, no matter who is doing it. However, personally I find myself indifferent to man-man and woman-woman kissing. It's not that I'm offended, it's just not interesting to me.
I have known women and in particular lesbians who are not ok with men kissing/having sex with each other either. I would put that down to an insecurity of sorts on the part of the women.
Generally I think a lot of people are growing bored with people politicizing their "identities" and doing things just because it is "Woke" or trendy etc.
