Harakiri
shareMany movies with the same name, this is the movie you talking about? https://moviechat.org/tt0056058/Seppuku
shareThe Suicide Club (2000). It's based on a story by Robert Louis Stevenson, but the best adaption is a radio play starring Sir Laurence Olivier of which you can listen to here: https://youtu.be/MzHx-mXTuIw
shareThe narrating is very good but I prefer to read the book first. Maybe I take it from the local library next week. Thanks for the recommendation.
shareFor a John Hughes fan, The Breakfast Club (1985)
For something serious, Dead Poet's Society (1989)
For a bit of silly 80s horror, A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987)
For something teen-based, William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet (1996)
For a chick flick, The First Wives Club (1996)
I also second Girl Interrupted
The Breakfast Club is classic.
Not fan of Dead Poet's Society and Girl Interrupted.
I will glad to seen Romeo + Juliet (1996) although I always prefer more traditionalistic William Shakespeare adaptions.
Wow, you don't like DPS or GI? That's shocking, both are imo objectively good films, but to each their own.
shareFor some reason, I felt emotionally distant from the plot and characters of both films.
shareI must admit, I find that odd given the variety of characters in both films and their varying storylines. But also, do you need to feel close to characters to enjoy their stories?
shareTo be honest, last time I watched Girl Interrupted was more than 10 years ago.
I find John Keating method in the movie dangerous.
So to be exact, this is more about the plot and the message than the characters/victims themselves.
Birth (2004) with Nicole Kidman
This movie gave a younger neph a hard time.
One of his questions about how it works to 'go into the water' (he can swim) was easy to answer.
Then he calmed down, only to ask the next day whether it's necessary to wear a wedding dress. 👰
Cameron Crowe’s “Elizabethtown” came to mind. The protagonist loses a high profile job after his project loses his company a billion dollars. He spends the rest of the movie with a death wish.
shareI am glad someone mention it.
I rewatched “Elizabethtown” two weeks ago, it's one of my favorite feel good movies. The protagonist is very likable and sympathetic.
